Confession: I used to be a total stress head. I used to be stressed about the fact I was stressed. I used to feel like it was just in my nature to worry. I used to feel powerless to change how I was feeling. In fact, the very suggestion that I could change how I was feeling was entirely lost on me at that point.
The thing is, that was not a great way to be living my life. I was not thriving. I spent a lot of my time feeling like “is this it for me?” and then feeling guilty for having thought that.
When my daughter was born, something in me changed. I could not bear the idea of passing on this propensity to stress and worry to her. So I decided to do something about it.
On today’s show I’m opening up and sharing about my experience with stress and how I managed to end what I discovered to be an addiction to it. My hope is that we can open up the conversation of mental health more, stop trying to act like we’ve all got our shit together all the time because when we talk more about how we’re feeling, we empower ourselves and others to get support and make a change.
