N***D MOM is an educational podcast that explores how culture, family dynamics, and early experiences shape our understanding of nudity, body image, and sexuality. Through a thoughtful conversation, Nora and Nyemade reflect on growing up in households where maternal nudity was normalized and viewed as a nonsexual aspect of everyday family life.
Drawing from their experiences in Swiss and Liberian cultures, the discussion examines how different societies assign meaning to the human body, the role of culture in shaping attitudes toward nudity, and the impact these experiences can have on body image, self acceptance, and personal boundaries. Throughout the episode, listeners are encouraged to consider how family norms influence development and how counselors can approach these conversations with curiosity, cultural humility, and an appreciation for diverse lived experiences.
Narrated by Christian, this podcast was created as part of a graduate-level Human Sexuality course in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at Georgia State University. It is intended to foster discussion, challenge assumptions, and encourage critical thinking about the intersection of culture, sexuality, and counseling practice.
