The diagnosis arrived.

The relationship changed.

The financial pressure increased.

Someone you trusted disappointed you.

Or perhaps you woke up one morning and realized that the storm was not around you—it was inside you.

If that describes your life today, please stay with me.

The storm may be real, but it is not the whole story.

The wind may be against you, but Jesus is already coming toward you.

Have you ever looked at your life and quietly said,

"Lord... I simply don't have enough."

Not enough money.

Not enough strength.

Not enough faith.

Not enough time.

Not enough courage.

Maybe today you feel that way.

Have you ever done the right thing... and regretted it?

Not because it was wrong...

but because it cost you everything?

If that's happened to you...

today's Gospel was written for your heart.

You are still in the hands of God.

You may feel cracked.

You may feel unfinished.

You may feel like life has pressed you, stretched you, wounded you, and spun you in circles.

But you are still in the hands of God.

Today’s first reading from Jeremiah brings us into the workshop of a potter.

God tells Jeremiah, “Rise up, be off to the potter’s house; there I will give you my message.”

Jeremiah goes down and sees the potter working at the wheel. The clay vessel becomes spoiled in the potter’s hand, so the potter makes it again into another vessel, as he sees fit.

Then the Lord says:

“Like clay in the hand of the potter, so are you in my hand.”

That may be the word someone needs today.

Today’s Gospel tells us that Jesus came to His native place and taught in the synagogue. People were astonished by His wisdom. They saw something extraordinary. They heard truth. They recognized power.

But instead of opening their hearts, they began questioning Him.

“Is he not the carpenter’s son?”

“Is not his mother named Mary?”

“Where did this man get all this?”

And the Gospel says they took offense at Him.

Jesus still wants to enter the home of your life.

Not only the clean room.

Not only the prayer room.

Not only the public room where everything looks organized.

Jesus wants to enter the kitchen, where you are anxious.

The sickroom, where you are afraid.

The living room, where family wounds are still waiting.

The silent room, where grief sits.

The locked room, where shame hides.

The tomb, where hope seems buried.

“Let my eyes stream with tears day and night, without rest.”

This is not polite religion.

This is not a comfortable prayer.

This is the cry of a prophet who sees his people wounded, hungry, broken, and spiritually lost.

Jeremiah looks at the field and sees death.

He enters the city and sees hunger.

He sees priests and prophets wandering in confusion.

He sees a wound that feels incurable.

And he cries.

There is a treasure hidden in your life.

It may be buried under pain.

It may be hidden beneath disappointment.

It may be covered by years of struggle.

It may be surrounded by confusion, waiting, sickness, loneliness, or failure.

What a powerful image.

Earthen vessels are fragile.

They can crack.

They can chip.

They can break.

They are not made of gold, silver, or steel.

They are ordinary clay.

And yet Paul says that God places treasure inside them.

That means God does not wait until we are perfect before He uses us.

Even if your heart has been hardened by pain.

Even if your faith has been shallow from exhaustion.

Even if anxiety has choked your peace.

Even if the thorns of life have grown thick around you.

Even if you feel dry, distracted, wounded, or far from where you hoped to be.
