What happens when circumstances change and you need to give up your career and become a Family Caregiver? As a professional journalist, Mary Anne shares her journey from career to caregiving.
Mary Anne has a passion to create meaningful and memorable stories. Starting with her work in video and TV, she has produced news pieces for FOX and a hip-hop music history documentary for Bravo. Today she is going to share her personal story as a caregiver.
Good Word For Caregivers
God cares for caregivers. Remember, he's one too. Say, are you feeling in the shadows right now? Just, where's the sunshine of life? Where's the brightness of it all? You just feel like you're in the shadows. Well, he can lift you up above those shadows. Whilst it may be fearful shadows, but I'll tell you, you can get high above it, and I like what Isaiah in the 40th chapter says, that those who hope in the Lord, will renew their strength, and they will soar on wings like eagles.
Hey, would you like to soar like an eagle today? Well, God wants to help you do that. You may not feel like you can even get off the ground, because caregivers sometimes are just tired, and weary, and worn out, and I don't even know if I have the strength to fly. Well, he can help you fly. I guarantee you that the Lord is with you now, recognize that. Know that he can give you that extra, so you can take wings like an eagle, and fly above, be lifted above the shadows of life. That's such good news, isn't it?
I'm so glad to share it with you. Don't forget, God cares for caregivers, and remember, he's one too.

Well today, she is going to share her personal story as a caregiver. Mary Anne, are you there?
Mary Anne C.: I’m here. Hi, Jonathan.
Jon: Hello. It’s so great to chat with you. Now, you have an interesting background, because you kind of came into this caregiving journey, but your professional background is journalism, and writing. You’re a PR content creator with Mac Media, macmedicatx.com. Why don’t you just do a little bit, kind of, number one, tell us who do you want to listen to this episode, and then just tell us a little bit of how you got into the caregiving journey.
Mary Anne C.: Okay. Well, thank you, Jon, or Jonathan. What do you prefer? I meant to ask you that before.
Jon: You know, you can call me Jon, or Jonathan, just don’t call me late for supper.
Mary Anne C.: Okay, Jon. I like Jon because my dad was Jon Micheal. Well, basically I would want anyone to listen to this, in any field, but especially anyone who is interested, obviously, in caregiving, and healthy aging. But, honestly, as a journalist, I always want to get my message to the broadest possible audience, and I actually think anybody who’s alive has to face this subject and-
Jon: We’re all going to get old, is that what you’re saying? We’re all aging?
Mary Anne C.: Well, it’s used by a lot of groups now, especially a lot of our local [inaudible 00:05:18] aging, everybody’s doing it, which I think is a great tagline. Yeah, I mean, the alternative is kind of bleak, so I think if we don’t admit we’re aging, or we at least don’t want to age, then we don’t want to be here, right? So, we need to become a little bit more comfortable with that term.
Jon: Yeah, do you think there’s some unique challenges or perspectives that millennials...
