I recorded this episode with Fabian Haywood before I moved to Las Vegas, but hadn't posted it because life got in the way. Now that I'm settled in, I wanted to go back and share this!
Fabian and I had a great time catching up, and we had a great conversation on what the new year has in store for us, some big changes, big inventions, and reflections from 2021.
This episode is also special, because it is one of the last I was able to film at Foster Coffee Company before I moved. I owe a huge thank you to them for being so supportive, and this was filmed at the Flint location, which has since closed. I am so grateful to have spent so much time there, and to have made so many connections, and I'm looking forward to seeing what the space turns into!

I had the pleasure of meeting Colin Regan a couple of weeks ago. Colin is a Musician, Composer, and Children's Author living in Sacramento, California, and we had a great conversation on Music, its impacts on mental health, as well as the importance of finding the right people in your life.
As Colin and I got to know each other a bit, we soon realized that we shared a lot of the same struggles in life. One of my main takeaways was the importance of finding the right people for your 'circle'. Colin brought up a new angle I hadn't thought about much, and that is to go out and seek the relationships you want because if you don't, you'll be left with only the relationships that come to you - some of which may not be the right relationships for you.
After we recorded this podcast, Colin was kind enough to invite me to his belated family Christmas gathering. I cannot think of a time where I felt more included and wanted, and at that moment, I knew I had found one of those 'right people' for my circle.
The late Dr. Seuss wrote an iconic poem themed on acceptance - the famous One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish. Sometimes, we come across bad fish though... There may be people who harm us, and there might be people that push our boundaries. There are people who manipulate and gaslight us into thinking the way they want us to.
There are also people who encourage us to stand up for ourselves and advocate for our mental well-being. Colin and I share many of the struggles mentioned above, and I found comfort in knowing I wasn't alone with those struggles. There are good fish too.
My hope is that everyone eventually finds their good fish and lets the bad fish go. Everyone's pond is different, so don't be afraid to catch and release. Also, don't bait others with something you're not. Be true to yourself and the good fish will enter your pond!

Hey y'all! Sorry there isn't a video for this episode - I may or may not have forgotten a tripod when we 'filmed' this... oops. Anyways, it was great sitting down with my cousin, Kyla, and chatting about a bunch of adult things. It's also weird talking about adult things and complaining about our adult problems now, compared to 10 years ago when life was much more simple. We talked about car accidents, dropping out of college, work, debt, and car vending machines, so check it out!

Hey y'all Happy New Year! This episode is from 2021 and it might have taken me 2 months to get around to uploading it, but it ties into 2022 quite nicely!
A lot of us are burnt out. We've been working so hard for so long, during a pandemic, working those odd jobs to get by, etc. We're tired. We have no energy left and we've run out of steam (and self esteem).
Take a break.
Nero and I had a great conversation on some of the 'symptoms of social media' as he put it. It's always important to step away and take the time off so you can come back to things stronger than ever. Take this opportunity to hit the ground running in 2022, and remember to take breaks. It's a marathon, not a sprint.
Michael Lote(Nero) is a Pittsburgh artist and of course we talked about his background, style, inspiration, and more. It was a great Q&A so thank you to anyone who submitted a question! It happened to be the day before Halloween so we had to get a spooky story in there too - check it out, and as always, let me know what you think below!

Sometimes things don't go as planned... Gaven and I recorded this back in July, 2021 with the intent of highlighting good examples of representation in Film/TV, finding how bad examples could improve, and posing solutions to the queer representation problem(s) the community continues to face.
Gaven ultimately made the call not to post this collab back in July due to our unpreparedness and the fact that we cannot fully speak on the topic, given our backgrounds. We realized that this episode would have been rounded out by a person of color who can speak on the subject from their point of view. Eventually we'll reconvene and rework this conversation to be even more representative.
I have concluded what I see to be 'Season 1' of Coffee with Zach, and thought this would be a good 'bonus episode' to include. Coffee with Zach was started on authentic conversation, and I had to remember not every conversation is the same. Some are smooth, some are rocky, some are funny, some have zoom glitches every 3 seconds, some don't have great audio due to technical constraints... the list goes on... but they are ALL authentic.
While this episode may not have gone exactly as we planned, I still wanted to hit the upload button as it is still very much a piece of the wholistic Coffee with Zach 'conversation' I've worked so hard to create through genuine connection, coffee, and community. It would be discrediting to not share it out of my own fear that it wasn't good enough, didn't fully capture the topic at hand, etc. We tried our best, but sometimes we need to reframe, reset, and redo.
Please enjoy this conversation, and I hope you find some takeaways! I learned I need to watch more movies... almost every film Gaven mentioned I had not seen. I cannot wait to share an update on this conversation!

Many of us loathe coming back to work on a Monday morning, but once we get there we fall back into our weekly cycle and start all over again and never really look beyond the scope of our immediate lives and into our future potential... What if your actions now could determine your future success? What are some things limiting that success... could it be the very job you're working?
Jason DePaoli had a nice conversation about social media, business, being intentional, and really working to un-limit ourselves, breaking free from the confines of what so many of us are trained to think by the modern education system. Jason was so fun to chat with, and I hope you all enjoy this episode!

Wow! Hillary came on and shared some insight into the music business, country music specifically! We talked about the barriers to entry and some of the challenges she faced when starting out, and while she has grown in the industry.
Hillary got her start at 8 years old and has been putting out new music since, always ensuring that her music is representative of herself. Hillary exemplifies the authenticity I try to promote with Coffee with Zach so of course, we had to do a podcast!
Thanks again to Hillary for the great conversation - I cannot wait to see what's next!

You are NOT the problem...
Had a great conversation on mental health and LGBTQ+ youth advocacy, dating app toxicity, relationships, and life in Los Angeles with Trevor Leeper! He invited us into his cool loft in Downtown Los Angeles where we really put into words some of the struggles a lot of people face on a daily basis.
Trevor is an Empowerment Coach, Mental Health Advocate, Model, and Founder of With Love, a daily textline that inspires, empowers, and connects. He was kind enough to share his story and tell us about the things he wishes he heard growing up - the same things he now makes sure others hear each and every day.
Trevor also works at Cafe/5 in Jefferson Park, Los Angeles and in the days following this episode, we all got coffee, ate some papusas at Sarita's Papuseria, and walked around Downtown LA for a bit.
Thanks again to Trevor for coming on, and being so inviting. My goal is to continually make new friends through the power of coffee, conversations, and community and this is a perfect example of exactly that!

Hi! This episode's guest is Tiffani Wharry, Executive Director for Family Promise of Genesee County - we had not seen each other since before the pandemic began, so it was nice to catch up! We talked about roller derby, pandemic life, and Tiffani mentioned she will be getting her PhD in Organizational Leadership & Social Justice from Adler University in Chicago. We talked about what it's like to prepare for a PhD program, and what her plans are after the degree.
We filmed an episode for Family Promise too, so stay tuned, and enjoy. This will be released as a bonus episode on a new platform which will contain full-length UNCUT conversations, and bonus content!

In this episode of Coffee with Zach, I got to sit down with Nicole Hoste-Breslin, Development Director for Family Promise of Genesee County and learn about Gardening and Golf! We talked about the Dikes in Holland, gardening zones, how gardening is therapeutic, charitable applications of gardening, and Nicole's personal garden! Nicole is also a golfer, and we had a conversation where she schooled me on golf too...
I have worked with Nicole in the past with Family Promise, and it was so nice to catch up on everything that's new. We filmed an episode for Family Promise too, so stay tuned, and enjoy.
