Emma Whitaker-Pitts is a second year MML (Modern and Medieval Languages), Spanish and Portuguese student at Clare College, University of Cambridge. Her experience as Head Girl of her secondary school, as well as Secretary and teacher of street dance for the CUTAZZ dance society in Cambridge, has helped Emma to gather an extensive repertoire of leadership experience, recognised by her receiving of the Brathay Organisation Award for Outstanding Student Leadership in 2021. Her voluntary work in summer schools and her primary school in her local town, as well as her childhood rooted in musical theatre and her participation in many shows, has enabled her to realise her passion for helping children in their self-development through creative pursuits and creative outlets. Emma has competed with the nationally successful Cambridge University Dance Competition Team in the Street Dance and Wildcard categories and has been able to make some incredible memories and friends throughout this. Her ambitions for her future include becoming involved in Broadcast Journalism as the Latin American Correspondent for the BBC and, on a senior level, becoming the UK Ambassador to Spain or a South American country. Finally, she is hugely passionate about travel and learning about different cultures and believes the world would be a better place with a deeper understanding of these. Thus, she is looking forward to spending half of her Year Abroad on an internship in Bogotá, Colombia, in the British Chamber of Commerce in the British Embassy offices.

During the holidays she adores spending time with family and her two dogs and travelling to her special, favourite place: Donegal on the North West coast of Ireland where she has family roots.

Before uni, he spent 6 months in Tanzania with a Christian charity. He enjoys being entrepreneurial, writing two published books and has a business with full time employees. He also captains the university sailing team.

Shen Lin is a first-year Economics Student at Trinity College, University of Cambridge. At the brink of turning 18, he is excited to be invited to this podcast to talk about his experiences as an overseas student and his thoughts about the world. Shen received his offer to Cambridge at the age of 15 and was "forced" to take a gap year before coming to Cambridge. He felt that "the world around him is changing every day" since he started his gap year and even more so after he started his university course last October. Jordan Mubako recently graduated from Harvard University where he obtained a bachelor's degree with High Honours in Chemistry with a sustained interest in chemical theory and research. He also has a minor in Economics. He was born in Harare, Zimbabwe. His life's goal is to revolutionise healthcare and development in his home country Zimbabwe. He is pursuing a Master's Degree in Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology from The University of Cambridge. He is passionate about Healthcare and Energy and wants to dedicate his life to building sustainable systems in both fields.

He believes the future of healthcare in Africa is low-cost diagnostics! Every year millions of Africans go untreated because of severe under-diagnosis due to either cost or availability constraints of diagnostic tools. He wants to change that and acquire all the tools needed to start his own low-cost diagnostics company across the continent. 

He is a founding member of AfriPonics, an agri-tech, climate-smart start-up operating out of Lesotho with the goal of empowering rural women by encouraging them to farm produce using hydroponics to boost yields and reduce waste.

Jordan Mubako recently graduated from Harvard University where he obtained a bachelor's degree with High Honours in Chemistry with a sustained interest in chemical theory and research. He also has a minor in Economics. He was born in Harare, Zimbabwe. His life's goal is to revolutionise healthcare and development in his home country Zimbabwe. He is pursuing a Master's Degree in Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology from The University of Cambridge. He is passionate about Healthcare and Energy and wants to dedicate his life to building sustainable systems in both fields.

He believes the future of healthcare in Africa is low-cost diagnostics! Every year millions of Africans go untreated because of severe under-diagnosis due to either cost or availability constraints of diagnostic tools. He wants to change that and acquire all the tools needed to start his own low-cost diagnostics company across the continent. 

He is a founding member of AfriPonics, an agri-tech, climate-smart start-up operating out of Lesotho with the goal of empowering rural women by encouraging them to farm produce using hydroponics to boost yields and reduce waste.

WHY? COFFEE'S ON ME, DAVID QUAN 权丁文

TL;DR: To process my emotions after a grueling campaign for President of The Cambridge Union, I reflected upon the influences of my late Grandfather and wrote him a letter: https://linktr.ee/DavidQuan . Drawing inspiration from him, I hope to learn more from others through genuine discussions – giving listeners heartfelt conversations filled with authentic insights, and giving guests legacy-worthy interviews to treasure.

To converse with someone without a strict time limit or structure – meticulously engaging in a curious process of clarifications or elaborations – is not only a rare privilege. This longer format also allows the sharing of otherwise unshared or unappreciated anecdotes. There are appeals to sound-bite media, of course, but the metrics that matter most to me are more about the uniqueness of contribution than measures of virality. Over time, I hope to be able to better deconstruct guests' fascinating experiences – to seamlessly tease out the insights for listeners to enjoy and learn from while cooking, commuting, relaxing, or walking their pet.
 
But this personal project is fundamentally as much about what we can learn from the guests as it is to give them (current) legacy-worthy interviews. My top priority is for guests to enjoy a unique opportunity to challenge, learn about, and be themselves; hopefully, they will be able to keep recordings of in-depth, heartfelt conversations to reflect on in years’ time.
