Fortune Isoka-Onwordi is a 1st year Land Economy student at Magdalene College, Cambridge. He grew up in Watford and attended a state school. Having navigated predominately white institutions throughout his life, he have gained a unique experience in the ways  Black people show up in these spaces from academia to the corporate world. Through this, he has learned the importance of having a true knowledge of self and confidence in one’s culture and history in being successful in any field. He hopes to pass this on and inspire others to thrive in spaces ‘not meant for them’. Growing up, he was very observant of the issues in his community, and it led him to question and seek answers as to what the root of these problems are and how they can be fixed on an economic, social, and psychological level. He is passionate about African development/progression and tries to incorporate this into his studies in any way (even if this involves stretching the reading list!). As a member of the Bank of England youth forum, he is actively looking for ways to tackle the obstacles and barriers to economic progression faced by many groups in the UK. Outside of this, he enjoys competing in athletics.

Mike Hood grew up in Warwickshire, before studying English Literature at Selwyn College, Cambridge, where he now lives with his wife Rachael.
