  • Interview Series: "Touching" upon Cognition with Prof. Leslee Lazar

Welcome back to another episode of Cog-Hz!

Today we have with us a very special guest, Professor Leslee Lazar!

You will get to hear about:

    • How to decouple fascination masked by passion in research
    • Extrapolating results from animal to human behavior with a pinch of salt
    • Diverse collaborations and building ideas about cognition from the sense of touch
    • Why you as a vision researcher should consider tactile perception as being closer to the truth!
    • Questions you can potentially work upon to address the most pressing investigations in tactile perception!
    • A Cognitive Neuroscientist & Visual artist by skills, and by profession, an Assistant Professor at the Centre for Cognitive and Brain Science at IIT, Gandhinagar. He is well-versed in multisensory tactile perception, aesthetic perception and design creativity. He has a PhD in Neuroscience from National Brain Research Centre, India and a post-doc from Harvard Medical School.

He is also the author of a really cool science book called ‘Super Animal & their Super Senses’. A fun-fact filled science book for young adults. Apart from exercising his creativity in research, he also spreads it across a canvas. His work embodies the intersection of science, art and culture. You can check his work out in links attached in the description below.

Hey, welcome back to another episode of CogHz. Today we are talking about, talking. Yes. Talking about talking, through a medium of talking.

This talking of ours is the dance of words. A salsa of words. Or. A. TANGO OF WORDS.  The way of talking is called Lingo. Hence a tango of lingo. Lingo Tango. How do we study this lingo? Well, through linguistics.

Listen to find out how language affects cognition.

Hey! Welcome back to another episode of CogHz!

Today we’ll wear the hats of storytellers and narrate to you the Legends of Neural Mishaps. A couple of stories of how our peculiar brain harvests some quirky mishaps and we’ll see where and why does it happen in the brain?

What you’ll hear today might sound like fiction

but it's our funny brain that makes these fictional instances a reality!
