  • Cogitations e14: about God's second law of pardon
We had several hitches in our giddy-up this morning on the livestream. As you listen to this episode of Cogitations you may notice some pretty wonky editing. Prayerfully the message came across clearly. This is a subject that should give us much comfort. We should not live in fear of losing our salvation. To the contrary, we should live and act with boldness in our assurance of salvation while we go about our day to day in this world. I mention a lesson from Dan Winkler. • Cogitations e13: about repentance and salvation
Have you ever wondered about repentance? Many have the idea of repentance as stopping all the sin you have been committing. What if you are ignorantly committing sin? Does that mean that you were not really saved when you put on Christ? Does that mean that you really did not put on Christ? Did you just get wet? How can we be assured of our salvation if we do not have an understanding of exactly what repentance is and what "fruit meet for repentance" is? Hopefully, if you have had these questions in the past this episode of Cogitations will help you ease your mind. If you like what we do then consider becoming a patron: www.patreon.com/nearchurches

  • Cogitations e12: about repentance and forgiveness
So many are functioning with the understanding that God requires of us more than He is willing to do. I have heard for many years the idea taught that we are to forgive with no condition whatsoever. This is contrary to the law of repentance and forgiveness. In this episode of Cogitations we look at exactly what God has said about how we are to forgive our fellow man. Also, these are streamed live in the "We Talk Truth" facebook group. If you would like to join in live then ask to be a part of that group. The verse I could not find on the fly during the livestream is Acts 26:20: "But shewed first unto them of Damascus, and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the coasts of Judaea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, and do works meet for repentance."

  • Cogitations e11: about suicide
Have you ever been in a conversation about someone who committed suicide? Has the question of whether or not the person is in heaven or hell ever been asked to you? Suicide is such a tragic phenomenon that it is hard for us as Christians to wrap our minds around it. In this episode of Cogitations I discuss the premise that suicide is a 100% damnable offense and a ticket straight to hell. I also go to the Bible and discuss how God's grace, Jesus' blood, and our faith work in conjunction in keeping us in fellowship with God. Hopefully you will be comforted and informed at the conclusion we draw from the Scriptures. If you feel this content is valuable please consider becoming a patron: www.patreon.com/nearcurches

  • Cogitations e10: about prom
Here is another very controversial topic that many seem afraid to tackle. Is it a good thing to send our children to a modern high school prom? Is this what Jesus would want us to do? In this episode I look at some stats about prom and we draw a conclusion about this issue and offer a solution to it as well. If you find our content helpful consider being a patron www.patreon.com/nearchurches

  • Cogitations e9: about ignorance as a virtue
It seems that people want to virtue signal their ignorance. We seem to wear ignorance like a badge of honor. Ignorance is the weapon used against teachers who are putting themselves out there and teaching the Bible. Why do we do this? Under consideration in this episode of Cogitations is the idea that people like to virtue signal their ignorance, a talk about the verb, drink, in relation to alcohol, and how the Holy Spirit convicts the heart of the sinner seeking salvation. If you find this of value please consider becoming a patron www.patreon.com/neatchueches

  • Cogitations e8: about abortion
Abortion is one of the most heinous sins a person can commit against humanity. It cheapens the gift of life and treats a human being in the most flippant way imaginable. Not only that, there is so much stigma surrounding speaking out against the killing of the pre-born that one is labeled a bigot and a hater of women if the right to life of a baby in the womb is defended. I this episode I talk about some arguments and answers to arguments not appealing to the Bible for authority. Hopefully you will find it helpful. We need to be well versed in the issue and able to argue for the right to life of the pre-born in a logical way while not appealing to the Bible for authority. If you feel like what we do adds value to your life please consider becoming a patron. • Cogitations e7: about being faithful unto death
It would be a terrible thing to be a martyr. It would appear that much of the New Testament is focused on just that. In this episode of Cogitations we look at a passage of Scripture that helps us prepare our minds uncase we are called upon to suffer unto death. I hope this encourages you and helps you to be braver in your Christian walk. Also, if you find what we do of value become a patron and support the cause: www.patreon.com/nearchurches
