  • about going to law before unbelievers s3e81

    This episode is from a listener question. Here is the question:

    In light of the recent Josh Duggar accusations and his upcoming trial for child pornography, I’ve wondered about some things. I realize that the Duggars aren’t members of the church. It’s my understanding though that they feel when matters occur involving a member of their “religious” group sinning against other members, that it is to be handled within the group. As you probably know, Josh admitted in the past to molesting 4 of his sisters and a babysitter. His dad had it handled within their group instead of going to police immediately. After some time, his dad, Jim Bob Duggar, finally went to a friend on the force, but no charges were brought. In the Lord’s church, we aren’t to bring our brethren to court. Is there ever an exception? I’ve heard of situations within congregations where men have exposed themselves or molested young girls and the victims were simply told they must forgive them. These matters were never brought before the church and to my understanding, the men never apologized. In situations where church members expose themselves, molest others, or even commit rape, are we supposed to only handle it within the church? And what if it’s been handled within the church, but the offender continues to offend? Say that the offender continues to offend and is unrepentant and the congregation withdraws fellowship, can the victim take him/her to court then? I would appreciate you maybe doing a podcast on this matter. Thank you, Tony. I appreciate your great work and you!

    I hope I shed some light on the matter.

  • about earning salvation s3e80

    An interesting doctrine has been espoused in the We Talk Truth group, one obtains salvation and obtain carries with it the idea of earning.  Take a listen to the podcast as we discuss this issue.

  • about being held hostage by good manners s3e79

    This one is very needed. The world considers it very bad manners to have a confrontation with the truth. Do not let the truth be held hostage by our good manners.

  • about denominational scholars (rerun episode s2e86) s3e78

    This is one of the more downloaded episodes. I hope it is valuable and edifying.

    Is there anything in the Bible that could be applied to the phenomenon of studying denominational scholars? I think there is. I have witnessed many of my contemporaries go off into error because of their studying at the feet of these false teachers. Take a listen to this episode and let me know what you think.

  • about a word of caution s3e77

    Being Pride Month I think it is a good thing to focus more on what the Bible teaches about the sin of homosexuality and other things associated with the LGBTQ+ agenda. That being said, I would like to offer a word of caution when we devise our argumentation when it comes to convicting people of sin who live amenable to the new covenant. Take a listen and see if you agree.

  • About "being born that way" s3e76

    I got a really god question from an episode that posted last year during Pride Month. It has to do with the argument that homosexuals have no choice because God made them and it was for a reason. I answer this viewer question in this episode.

  • about the way to follow s3e74

    This episode comes from an anecdote in a small book I have in my library. It is a little poem that was found on a tombstone. It made me think of these things. I made the post about this in the We Talk Truth Group. Here is the post containing the anecdote:

    Seen on a tombstone in a cemetery....

    "Remember, friend, as you pass by,
    As you are now, so once was I;
    As I am now, you soon will be;
    So prepare to die and follow me."
    Someone had taken a black crayon and written underneath...
    "To follow you, I'm not content;
    Until I learn which way you went!"
    Taken from a little pamphlet I have titled: Smiles and Tears of a Gospel Preacher
    Compiled by Paul Sain

  • about working for salvation s3e73

    This episode, like most, was inspired by a comment or question from the We Talk Group. I have put out much content about works in relation to Christianity and salvation in the past. I think this episode may be of use to you as it explores some of my recent thoughts on the subject.

  • about blasphemy, is it forgivable s3e72

    This is a throwback to 2019 when I first started Cogitations. It was just me live-streaming on Facebook before it was a podcast. This livestream recently surfaced and got some new traction.

    Can blasphemy against the Holy Spirit be forgiven? This is just the question we answer here. I hope you like it and enjoy this throwback to the early days.
