This was a difficult episode for me to name. The text we look at is in Genesis chapter four. Cain and Abel were at odds with one another. Abel was privileged and Cain was disenfranchised and bitter. God gives Cain a formula for success in the world He created. Cain decided not to avail himself of said advice and it went badly for him. So many of my brethren are lovingly showing solidarity to black people by using the hashtag, blacklivesmatter. Can we separate the politics from that sentiment? I don't think we can. Also, when it comes to healing racial division, what is the best way? Even though it is difficult to hear we must move past the freez point of actual institution racism. The problem with this is when this is brought up in discussion the argument is, "you can't tell us to just get over racism or slavery." What is the alternative? The USA is not nearly so terrible a place as the media wants us to think. Everyone needs to stop believing the narrative and have an open dialogue away from the influence of the media based on individuality. This is such a hard topic. I pray that you leave emotion and preconceived notions behind. If we can actually talk about the world from a position of logic sans emotion then we will actually be able to have a dialogue and be better able to bridge gaps both real and perceived.

With what is going on in the nation right now Christians should be the model of behavior for the world. Sadly, the church is acting no better and in come cases worse that the heathen. Take a listen to this post and try to lay aside emotions and preconceived notions. Also, the next episode of Cogitations will be in the same vein and will deal with more issues  involved with race and the perception of racism in the USA.
