Inspired by the Dia De Los Muertos celebrations surrounding the sanctity of life & the sacredness of the spirit realm, Jim Carson was a frequent participant in the San Francisco Mission District in the California Bay Area Dia De Los Muertos celebrations nearly a decade ago. More recently, Carson started a tech-house night at El Mariachi Taqueria in Bangkok, Thailand, that has a Dia De Los Muertos alter that pays homage to the Mexican revolutionaries of the Wild, Wild West; like the late, great Emiliano Zapata (August 8, 1879 - April 10, 1919).
Emiliano Zapata is most widely known for his famous quote, 'I'd rather die on my feet, than live on my knees.' Zapata was a leading figure in the Mexican Revolution. His quote has evolved in the 21st century in some spiritual circles to 'I'd rather die on my feet for my KING, than live on my knees for man.'
With recent hauntings in his building & condo In Thailand, Carson feels a special connection with the spirit realm even stronger than ever before. A healer & channeler for over 20 years, Carson has finally started opening up more about his gift & how it informs his musical choices & selections. He often connects with the spirits & The Holy Ghost, especially in the opening song Jim Carson 'Live Your Life (Free Your Mind)' inspired by the spirits of house legends recently passed & the closing track OM Daddy 'The Light' (Club Mix) inspired by Carson's own personal journey with recovery from trauma & ultimately finding his true love.
All the songs selected for this compilation have a special connection to Dia De Los Muertos & the spirit world & ghosts of Thailand, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, South Beach Miami, Ibiza, Sitges-Spain, & beyond. The Message here is that there is always 'Light' at the end of the tunnel & when you truly live YOUR life, you FREE your mind. Jack your body, free your mind, this is house music. It's a spiritual thing, a body thing, a soul thing.
