On February 11th, 1988, twelve-year-old Jie Zhao Li left her home in Honolulu, Hawaii to sell chili fundraiser tickets for a school trip, promising her mother she would be back at 5pm. She was last seen moving between two nearby 7-Eleven stores in the Nuuanu neighborhood during the late afternoon, alone. What followed was a flood of conflicting sightings, sketches of unidentified men, reports of a yellow vintage Chevrolet, and one of the largest search efforts the island had seen. More than three decades later, Jie Zhao has never been found. This episode examines the day she vanished, the weeks of desperate searching that followed, and the questions that still remain. Join Ali and Eli as we go through this tragic missing person case.
