Melissa, a talented and passionate individual, faced challenges in her life, including a diagnosis of Lyme disease. On February 6th, 2020, she experienced a mental health crisis and drove to the Taos Gorge Bridge with the intention of jumping off. However, she called her ex-girlfriend for help, who took her to a psychiatric hospital. After her release, Melissa struggled with medication side effects and concerned about a pickup truck that would drive by her friend's house that she was staying at. Melissa expressed paranoia and mentioned her intention to disappear. On February 29th, 2020, Melissa's brother reported her missing after not hearing from her which was out of character for her. Despite extensive search efforts, including scanning the river and banks below the bridge, no sign of Melissa was found. Her car was towed, and her phone was left behind, which was not unusual for her. As time passed, the belief that Melissa had jumped off the bridge was ruled out by everyone, and her family began to consider the possibility that she may be living off the grid but no concrete evidence of her whereabouts has been found to date.
If you believe you see Melissa please approach her with love and let her know that her brother has a room for her. If you know that Melissa was met with foul play please call the the Taos police at 575-758-3361
