Blood Runs Cold

Colette Aram

Listen Later

Hello and welcome to Blood Runs Cold, a true crime podcast looking at cases from around the world involving murder, missing persons, miscarriages of justice and more, with the emphasis on the victims of these crimes.

I’m Peter, creator and host of this podcast, and in this episode we are going back to 1983 to look at the brutal sexual assault and murder of 16-year-old Colette Aram, the long search for a sadistic killer, and the advances in DNA that eventually brought him to justice.

If you enjoy this episode and would like to help us grow, please leave us a review (hopefully 5 stars) wherever you listen.

Jacqui Kirkby, Colette's mother, released a book in 2012 titled "Justice for Colette" where she tells of the devastating impact Colette's murder had on her life and also tells of the type of person her daughter was.

As mentioned in the episode, Colette's was the first case covered on Crimewatch UK on BBC TV in June 1984. You can watch that episode and see a reconstruction of Colette's case, as well as see the taunting letter written by the killer, and how investigating officers viewed the case HERE
