When you think about God what words come to mind?
"Often people think about God in terms of great, mighty, and powerful that often times we can't get Him down to earth and think of Him as plain ol' good." - Charles Stanley
Join us as we unpack a few things about God's goodness and what the greatest expression is of the goodness of God.
"Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good. His faithful love endures forever." Psalms 136:1
Before we give God thanks for what He has done, we give Him thanks for who He is.
We give thanks for God first because of who He is, our LORD is...
1. Good
2. Faithful
3 God of gods
4. Creator
5. Our Redeemer
6. Our Present Help
7. Our Provider
8. God of Heaven
God give us the command to "fear not" over and over in the Bible. What is fear and why do we fear? More importantly, how do we use scripture to overcome our fear?
Depression is a very relevant topic in our culture. It's also a topic that until recently many churches have avoided. We've learned that depression doesn't disqualify you from being used by God. We look at the lives of people in scripture that may have been depressed and how God still used them in a mighty way. What are some false notions society has about depression? What's the reality of it and how do we fight depression?
A very powerful way to worship God is to bring your gifts before him as an act of worship. This can include gifts of time, talents, or treasures. The Bible says that God is the giver of every good and perfect gift. Money is a good gift from God when managed the way God would have us to manage it. God gives us money in order to provide for us and in order for us to bless others and advance His Kingdom through our financial giving.
In Acts 2:47 it says "every day the Lord added to their number those who were being saved." Wouldn't it be awesome of our churches had people being saved every day? One of the things we've learned from the church in Acts 2 is that they were living their faith by their actions and sharing their faith with their words. Do our actions match our words? Part of living out our faith in words is Evangelism - the process of communicating the message of salvation to those who do not know Jesus. Today we'll look at 1 Peter 3:15-16, and Peter's evangelism advice.
We continue our series with two things we are devoted to as a church body, Worship & Serving. We'll look at what worship is and how it's not limited to Sunday mornings before the sermon. We'll draw examples on how to worship and serve from scripture, specifically from Acts 2.
We kick off the series discussing the church's mission, motto, and model. Our mission comes from Matthew 28, to go and make disciples of all nations. Our model is based of Acts 2:42-47. This week we focus on what it looks like to be "devoted" to discipleship and fellowship.
