CRD White House Special Report 2022. Free for college radio stations in the USA to download and play on the air.

In recognition of World College Radio Day 2022, and on behalf of the College Radio Foundation, a group of students, staff, and faculty (19 in total) representing the medium of college radio from across the United States, visited the White House yesterday.

The visit was to meet with White House officials and interview them on issues that are of importance to the students. The students did all the interviewing and were able to meet with the following officials in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building:

Kamala Harris, Vice President of the United States – to discuss leadership, democracy, and the importance of journalism

Karine Jean-Pierre, Assistant to the President and White House Press Secretary – to discuss the news of the day and her role working with the media

Nick Conger, Senior adviser – to discuss climate change and energy policies

Bharat Ramamurti, Deputy Director for the National Economic Council – to discuss student loans, student debt, and college affordability

Sheila Nix, Chief of Staff, Department of Education – to discuss post-high school education, college affordability, and student loans

Declaración a favor de la paz, por las radios universitarias de todo el mundo

Nosotras, las emisoras de radio universitarias participantes en el Día Mundial de la Radio Universitaria 2022, hacemos la siguiente declaración:

1. Defendemos el derecho de las personas de todas las naciones a vivir en paz, libres de los conflictos y de la amenaza de las armas.

2. Apoyamos métodos pacíficos y no violentos para resolver las diferencias y disputas entre grupos y países, así como condenamos el uso de la violencia para empezar conflictos.

3. Creemos que la radio universitaria es una plataforma para todas las voces, independientemente de la etnia, género, identidad, orientación sexual, edad, clase social, condición o atributos físicos, valores religiosos o éticos, nacionalidad e ideología política.

4. Consideramos que celebrar la diversidad, igualdad e inclusión conduce a un mejor entendimiento y una mayor aceptación entre las personas.

Declaration of Supporting Peace By Student Radio Worldwide

We, the student radio stations participating in World College Radio Day 2022, do make the following declaration:

1. We support the right for people of all nations to live in peace and to be free from armed conflict and the threat of armed conflict.

2. We support only peaceful, nonviolent methods to solve disagreements and disputes between groups and countries and condemn the use of violence to resolve conflicts.

3. We believe that student radio is a platform for all voices, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, social class, physical ability or attributes, religious or ethical values system, national origin, or political beliefs.

4. We believe that celebrating diversity, equity and inclusion leads to greater understanding between people, and leads to increased acceptance of others.

5. Student radio stands with all those who are oppressed or suffering from violence and seeks to champion justice and support sustainable peace for everyone.

Alphaville is a German synth-pop band formed in Münster in 1982. They gained popularity in the 1980s. The group was founded by singer Marian Gold, Bernhard Lloyd, and Frank Mertens. They achieved chart success with the singles "Forever Young", "Big in Japan", "Sounds Like a Melody", "The Jet Set" and "Dance with Me". Gold remains the only continuous member of Alphaville, and in 2022 the band is releasing a new album called Eternally Yours, with their songs performed with a full orchestra. College Radio Day’s Rob Quicke talked to Gold about the new album, and about the continuing relevance of the legendary song – "Forever Young"...

Lance Liguez is faculty advisor for UTA Radio at the University of Texas at Arlington and a member of the College Radio Day Advisory Board.

Lance talked with the legendary Steve Scott, a radio broadcaster with 40+ years of radio news experience. He’s a News Anchor at WCBS Newsradio 880 in NYC (there from 2006-present). Previously, Scott has had assignments around the world including Bosnia, the Kosovo war, Cuba w/Castro, and 9/11 at the World Trade Center.
