In this bonus episode, Hollis and Jordana cover how we can help create safe environments for students by validating their identity and acknowledging where they are academically, emotionally, socially, and mentally. We continue to hear from students regularly that in addition to their schoolwork and extracurricular activities, they are also facing the stress and fear that is coming with current events in the US and the challenges that came with starting high school during a global pandemic. It is okay to acknowledge that sometimes, things are not okay for students as they process the amount of pressure they face. This episode emphasizes the importance of allowing students to be exactly who they are and find the schools that will allow them to grow in the ways that contribute to student success rather than burn out. We also touch on how parents can help support their students rather than adding to the immense pressure already felt by this generation of high school students.
If you or your student need additional resources or support, please know that support is out there, and we are happy to help how we can.
