The episode was recorded on Christ the King Sunday, which is the last day of the year in the Church's calendar.
The Scripture reading is John 18:33-37.
This service was provided online due to COVID restrictions.
In this sermon, Father Mark contrasts the authority of the world with the authority of the vulnerable kingdom of the one true God of the universe. He describes Jesus as a witness to the truth, Jesus who lives within and reveals the ultimate relation of God and the Creation.
Father Mark then describes the mission of the Church, which is the reorientation to God and God’s Kingdom, and to reveal and manifest the Kingdom of God.
And he talks about the message of Christ Church, living from Kingdom of God values, and holding the world’s values up to the light of God’s Church, and to help us live into our Christ identity through, among other things, compassion, love, hospitality, and welcoming the stranger.
We are called to bring forth the rule of Christ the King in ourselves and in our community.
