  • Last ICT calls in the 7th EU Framework Programme
During the Lakeside Research Days 2012 Jürgen Rattenberger form the
European and International Programmes Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG) gave a talk about last ICT calls in the 7th EU Framework Programme. You can find more information at our website: http://www.Lakeside-Labs.com
The Lakeside Research Days are an annual workshop focussing on the core competence of Lakeside Labs: self-organizing networked systems.
International experts are devoted to a special topic in selforganizatuion in the anual organized workshop of Alpen-Adria-Universität and Lakeside Labs. The event is organized as a five days workshop. It takes place at Lakeside Labs GmbH in Klagenfurt am Wörthersee, Austria, near a beautiful lake and alps scenery.
Invited experts, local professors, and young researchers discuss and elaborate ideas in the field of self-organizing systems (SOS). The main emphasis of the workshop is on soliciting discussions and creating new ideas regarding a topic related to self-organizing systems.
The event provides an exellent platform for scientific exchange, networking, establishment of international collaboration, and joint research projects.

  • Evolving, Training and Designing Neural Network Ensembles
    Colloquium with Xin Yao
Prof. Xin Yao CERCIA, School of Computer Science, University of Birmingham, UK.
Previous work on evolving neural networks has focused on single neural networks. However, monolithic neural networks are too complex to train and evolve for large and complex problems. It is often better to design a collection of simpler neural networks that work cooperatively to solve a large and complex problem.

  • Challenges in Network Dynamics: Collective Nonlinear Dynamics for Autonomous Systems
Colloquium with Marc Timme: The Research Days are an annual event concentrating on the core competence of Lakeside Labs - Self-organizing Networked Systems. During this workshop organized by Lakeside Labs GmbH in cooperation with the University of Klagenfurt, international experts devote themselves to a special topic in self-organization. This year, between July 12th and 16th, they focused on the question how self-organizing systems can be designed to apply the concept in dedicated applications.

  • Quality-of-Experience driven Cross-layer Optimization for Mobile Multimedia Communication
Colloquium with Eckehard Steinbach: Quality-of-Experience driven Cross-layer Optimization for Mobile Multimedia Communication. This talk presented a Quality of Experience (QoE) based cross-layer design framework for mobile multimedia communication. Our approach leads to optimized usage of wireless network resources for multiple users running diverse applications (e.g. voice calls, video streaming, file transfer). Our main objective is to improve the user's Quality of Experience (QoE).

  • Modeling Traffic on Networks as Complex Dynamical System Modeling Traffic on Networks as Complex Dynamical System Modeling Traffic on Networks as Complex Dynamical System
Prof. Dr. Bosiljka Tadic, Department of Theoretical Physics Jozef Stefan Institute Ljubljana. Complex structure of networks may affect the dynamic processes on them in different ways, depending on the topological elements. On the other hand, the dynamical interactions between agents in different environments may be mapped onto networks, whose structure is varying in time. In both cases, numerical modeling offers a way to unravel structure-dynamics interdependences, specifically how the dynamical rules working at local level lead to emergent global behaviors.
