Colonial Chisme

For the last episode of season 1, guest Luz Chavez joins JT and Eric to share her life story as a DACA recipient, to discuss the advocacy work she has done within youth-led immigrant network United We Dream, and to inspire Latinos at GW to get more involved in the greater DC community.

This week's guest, Alexxa Aponte, joins Ian and Eric to talk about issues regarding immigration from Latin America. They discuss the history of Latin American immigration from various countries including Cuba, Biden's cabinet picks (including identity politics), and Puerto Rico's status as a U.S. territory but not a state.

This week, guest speaker AP Velasco joins Eric and JT to discuss the vast discrepancies between Mexico's outstandingly progressive Feminist Foreign Policy and its abysmal domestic record of violence against women, including femicide.

The host and editor of Colonial Chisme, Eric Moreno and Ian Duncanson, discuss what it's like to be half white and half Latinx. They cover topics such as colorism, the importance of the Spanish language, and biracial identity as a whole.

This week, we partnered with GW Students for Indigenous and Native American Rights (SINAR) to discuss our identities as Latinx and Indigenous as well as the history of Indigenous peoples in Latin America.

This week, we're discussing the controversial president of GW, Thomas Leblanc. We talk about topics ranging from his $500,000 inauguration to his comment about shooting all the black people on campus.
