Many of us are familiar with the story of Jesus feeding the multitudes of people who have gathered to see and hear him by multiplying five loaves of bread and two fish into a feast for thousands. This demonstration of divine abundance in the midst of scarcity can teach us something about how God can transform the seemingly insufficient into more than enough for all.
All around us we are told that there’s not enough, or worse, that we are not enough. A culture of comparison and consumerism keeps us constantly afraid of being on the “outside,” of not having the resources that make for a “good life.” Worse, we are often encouraged to hoard those resources, ever fearful that “someone” will take what is rightfully ours.
As followers of Jesus, we are challenged to discover how we might trust in God’s provision and care for our lives, even in this time of overwhelm and uncertainty. What belongs to us, anyway? And what do we owe to one another? Join us this Sunday as we explore these questions together.
