  • 3 - Advent - Joseph's Journey to Christmas - Matthew 1:18-25 - Pastor Greg Ealey

Joseph, a man who finds himself in a peculiar situation. He is betrothed to a woman of whom he has never laid with, but now she is pregnant. Having been engaged myself as a young man, I can imagine the anticipation of being engaged. The joy of knowing your wife who has been waiting on you her whole life and you have been waiting on her to seal this agreement, the covenant of marriage. Waiting a year to touch his wife and in his excitement, waiting and anticipating … Joseph gets the word… Mary’s Pregnant.

  • 2 - Advent - Mary's Journey to Christmas - Pastor Tami Lundgren -Luke 1:26-38

The birth of Jesus to a teenage mother is a familiar story to most of us.  But in the familiarity of this story, we often lose perspective on just how hard it must have been for Mary.  We tend to jump to the happy ending - the birth of the Savior of the World and skip over the reality of what Mary must have gone through, the pain she felt, the emotions she experienced, and the journey she went on.

  • 2-Nov 12, 2023 - Pastor Jim West - Luke 14:7-24 - Hurts So Good: Generous Hospitality

This morning I’m going to focus on a currency that is quite costly and maybe even a bit intimidating for some of us, and that is the currency of hospitality. Many of us give of our time to serve and volunteer, and many of us give some money to charity or noble causes, but we would rather not get too involved with people! We like our privacy; we don’t want to get tangled up in other people’s problems; and we generally prioritize spending time and investing energy in people we like and have much in common with as opposed to getting entangled with “strange” people or poor people or people we don’t think we can relate with. Be that as it may, Jesus calls His Church to be generous with our hospitality as a result of God’s grace. I’m going to be working from a lengthy passage from Luke 14:7-24 that falls into three segments that I’ll cover under three subheadings:
    1) Resisting the Inner Ring; 2) A Strange Invitation; and 3) The Poor in Spirit Banquet

  • 1-Nov 05, 2023-Hurts So Good: The Heart of Radical Generosity-Pastor Jim West- Luke 18:9-17

The Gospel leads us to radical generosity that is costly. Now, the Gospel oriented concept of radical generosity is quite different from what immediately comes to mind when we think of generosity. For the most part, we think of generosity in terms of giving money, and that is not incorrect, because being generous means no less than giving our money…but it means so much more. Radical generosity is a heart change that affects all the various currencies of life including hospitality, our personal space, our time, our independence, our relational economy, and wealth. In other words, the radical grace of God leads us to be radically generous with those things we consider to be of the highest value in every aspect of our lives, and it’s always costly.

  • 38 - Ephesians - 10/29/2023 - One In Christ: A Modern Day Ephesians Story

On Sunday we had the opportunity to witness One In Christ. Meghan Connors and Neil Getzlow have overcome their past lives through God’s unlimited grace and unconditional love, and now minister to others.

Meghan has educated law enforcement, healthcare workers, probation & parole employees, court advocates, direct support advocates, and others about how to identify, understand, and respond to human trafficking from her unique vantage. She’s received awards for her work and achievements, a scholarship was established in her name, and she is the first recipient of the "Meghan Connors, Be the One" Award.

“You can all be involved and do something with what your gifting is, we just want you to learn more about what trafficking actually looks like, because it’s not the same as what you see on social media and in movies, and then figure out how you can get involved in the KC area.” -Meghan Connors

Neil’s world was shaken up by God when he was blackmailed by a prostitute on a business trip. This ultimately led Neil to unmask all of his sexual sins to God and to his wife, Amy. Thanks to Jesus, Neil and Amy rebuilt their marriage, putting God in the center. Now, three years later Neil is a speaker and author of a book. Neil and Amy want to share their story, helping people who might have the same struggles.

“We’ve got to help men turn the finger of blame from ‘Out in the world and whatever’s causing that brokenness’ to pointing the finger back at themselves, so they can begin to heal and figure out what in their heart is creating that. To be able to get past that addiction or whatever it may be, that starts with this Body/the Church.” -Neil Getzlow
