Admit it, you want to see PK play. It’s okay, nobody is judging (so long as you stay off Twitter) and whey wouldn’t you be excited to see him play. He’s a great player with a big, over the top personality that is fun to watch.

Usually, we’d wait until the Avs had at least hit the double-digit mark before we took a real look at the season start. But, given the random and strange schedule the Avs were handed to start the 2016-2017 season, we find ourselves with time to ponder the team play and that of a few individual players.  So we do.

In a previous podcast, we spoke about the 24-hour rule. In short, it looks like this:

You get exactly 24-hours to celebrate or commiserate after a game. Once that 24-hours is over you have to move on.

I’d like to think that the airplane flight home for the Avs – Which Peter McNab noted is the longest of the year – will give each player just enough time to process the road trip. What went right, what went wrong and so on.

The average flying time for a direct flight from Denver, CO to Orlando is 3 hours 42 minutes.

The Avs lost their first game of the season.

It had to happen sooner or later and if we’re being honest, most of us were surprised to find the Avs rolling into Washington with a 2-0 record – and if you go back far enough into the exhibition and preseason games, – a 9-0 record.

So, given the caliber of the teams we started the season against, 2 wins and 1 loss, is not a bad record. As a matter of fact, 2 wins on this road trip total is an acceptable outcome.

The NHL and the NHLPA got together and developed a program aimed at helping players prepare for life after hockey while they’re still in the prime of their career. The Core Development Program was sparked by player feedback that they’d wished they had a tool like this before the end was in site to have more time to prepare and to make the transition easier.

How fans consume the game of hockey changes more and more each year with advancements in broadcast rights, new and updated media outlets and the ever-growing presence of online viewing.

Hell, now you can even watch games online and tweet with your peeps while doing it. It’s like a rudimentary visual reality game. #Awesome

Jerome Iginla is at the end of his career. You could argue that he wouldn’t be playing hockey in the NHL right now if he hadn’t gotten the contract length that he did from the Colorado Avalanche. And yet, here he is.

Behold the poise and willingness to not just talk to the media, but to elaborate on topics. Just like on the ice he’s cool, honest and authentic.
