The Western Apache Tribe filed an emergency appeal on a preliminary injunction, last Saturday, at the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit with the purpose to a foreign mining company refrain from destroying their sacred land at Oak Flat in Arizona.                                                             Resolution Copper - the mining company - will own it and control it in the next week. That’s why this is kind of an emergency. 

Oak Flat is not some average land. The Western Apache consider it to be sacred, often used as a stage for prayers and cerimonies. Aren’t they protected by some kind of law? They kind of were. Past tense.
