Bill Nienhuis is the President of Childcare Worldwide. With more than two decades of experience in global ministry leadership, Bill is a thoughtful voice on discipleship, nonprofit integrity, and what it really means to create lasting impact.
He’s helped lead a major shift toward church-centered discipleship through what are called Life Centers, where children aren’t just introduced to faith, but discipled to grow and share it. For our 1st devotional for this new season, the Holy Spirit put in my heart to read Jeremiah 29:11-13. This devotional reminds of how much God loves us and it is also a reminder of God's promise of hope, future and restored relationship with Him. In this episode, he will share his life of how he grew up in South Carolina and growing up in a large family of cotton mill workers and how close-knit Southern family where money was often scarce, but love, laughter, and hard work were never in short supply.

You will also hear him share his life growing up with his family and how his faith played a vital role in his life. He also will share how his perseverance and determination change the direction of his family’s future while never forgetting where he came from, Donald became the first in his family to graduate from a major university. He went on to earn three degrees from Clemson University, including a Doctor of Education.

At the center of his life are his Christian faith, his family, and his belief that education and discipline can change the course of a family for generations. He believes strongly that where a person starts in life does not have to determine where they finish.

As co-author of Born of Nothing: From White Trash and Lintheads to Purpose Across Generations, Williams writes not just from research, but from lived experience — telling the story of poverty, faith, education, hard work, and generational change in the American South.
