Dr. Parmjit Singh - Professor, Author, and Speaker
This is the second part of a two part podcast, in part 2 we talk about mindfulness.
DR. PARMJIT SINGH is Assistant Clinical Professor with Department of Family Medicine at McMaster University and has a PhD in psychology. He has Clinical Training in Mind-Body Medicine from Harvard Medical School, Boston, USA and has participated in an intensive retreat on Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction (MBSR) in mind-body medicine under the direction of Drs. Jon Kabat-Zinn and Saki Santorelli.  He is also a Certified Yoga Teacher, a Certified Lifestyle Coach and a deditcated Vipassana practitioner. He did his Post-doctoral training in psychology from University of Southern Queensland, Australia and McMaster University, Canada.
He is a TEDx speaker and Excellence in Teaching Award nominee who also offers hands-on and practical mindfulness-based corporate resilience/stress management and professional development programs/retreats.
He teaches in the Faculty of Health Sciences & DeGroote School of Business at McMaster University courses such as Body, Mind, Spirit and Health, Attitudes, Behaviors, Professional Transitions, Deceptions in Decision Making, The Mindful Leader and Mindfulness as a Way to Innovation and Creativity. He is involved in MD program’s professional competencies stream in the area of self-care. Since 2011, he is running eight-week Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Course for medical students and residents at McMaster University. Since 2016, he has successfully embedded a four week modified Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction program into the standard curriculum of Family Medicine residency program of McMaster University.
His teaching methods are popular among students for their innovativeness and applicability to real life.  One of his academic courses was featured on television for its unique content and perspective.
He is a facilitator in Executive Education, DeGroote School of Business, McMaster University and is also a faculty member of Body Therapies Yoga Teacher Training, Hamilton.
Parmjit has written three workbooks (The Looking Glass, Soliloquies, and Towards Healthy and Successful Living), numerous research articles, book reviews and published ‘The Health Q’ until May 2008.  A dynamic workshop conductor and a passionate speaker, he has held numerous health and wellness events for business and educational sector.
