The heart of the problem is the problem of the heart. In "The Healing", Jesus confronts us of our deepest sickness within us, which is the sin that separates us from God. The act of healing the paralytic points us to Jesus, not only as a miracle-worker, but also the Saviour of the world. In order to be our Saviour, Jesus knows that He must be pierced for our sins on the Cross, for only by His stripes, we can be truly healed.

What is the Gospel?

Jesus lived a life we could not live (a sinless life), He died a death we should have died (a sinners death), He rose to give us a life we could never have otherwise (resurrected life), and He alone is the way, the truth and the life - the only way to God. Therefore, we respond to His call - "come, and follow me" with a loving, joyful, and grateful heart!

Barnabas means the son of encouragement. Even so, discipleship was a challenge for this disciple as he sold his possessions, stood up for Paul, and left his partnership with Paul to encourage Mark.

Lawrence Tong shares the amazing testimonies of OM ministries and points us to focus on Jesus for strength, courage, and the incredible - just like Peter when he walked on water! As a disciple, you may need to take risks and ask God for the capacity to equal the opportunities He gives.

In this passage of John 11:1-44. we see Mary, Martha and Lazarus declaring the they believe that Jesus is the son of God. This is done in the context where the Jews and teachers of the law have planned to kill Jesus. And so Mary, Martha and Lazarus would need to count their cost if they wanted to follow Jesus. But they did, because in the end of the day, discipleship is costly but it is worth it.

Are u a disciple or a just a Christian? Is there a difference between the two? Jesus told us to go and make disciples, instead we make converts. We are often guilty of not preparing people for what it truly means to be fully devoted follower of Jesus Christ.
