“God creaked open a door for me, and I jumped right through" and “Jumping in is betting on yourself” is how Media Arts Professional Tyson Havranek described how he became an award winning journalist, educator and sports broadcaster. Personally, as a host, I am not sure I have ever enjoyed an episode more. Tyson was candid, insightful and showed wisdom well beyond his years, as he shared gems such as “Social Media is making us less social,” and “Students will fight ferociously for each other, then against each other.” Many of us learned our ethics from our mom and dad, grandparents and through our faith journey, but are today’s youth learning them the same way? As a teacher, Tyson makes something very clear to his students, “You’re not turning in assignments for me, it is your chance to showcase your talent to the world.” And for the parents…“Your child has something to give the world, let them!” Tyson is the Six-Time Winner of the Nebraska Broadcaster Award for Excellence.
