  • TORNADOES and FLOODS Threaten The South (March 24-28 Extreme National Weather Forecast)
    The low that brought rain to California over the weekend has officially moved into the South and Southeast. Severe thunderstorms are likely throughout the day today with a 30% chance of tornadoes this evening. The Southeast already saw an inch or two of rain yesterday, so the additional precipitation moving in today will most likely lead to flooding in places like Alabama and Georgia. Additionally, a record breaking heat wave is moving into the eastern half of the country bringing temperatures 20-30 degrees above average.

  • WINTER STORM QUINCY Brings OVER A FOOT OF SNOW to New England (Another Storm Trailing Behind!)
    A major Northeast snowstorm will be moving into New England throughout the day Monday bringing over a foot of snow to select locations in Vermont, New Hampshire, New York, Massachusetts, and Maine. Around mid-week, a system that is currently above Southern California will move across the country, possibly turning into another major snowstorm for the Northeast.

  • MULTIPLE NORTHEAST SNOWSTORMS March 23-28 (Winter Storm Quincy in NE, Severe Thunderstorms in South)
    Winter Storm Quincy kicks off the week with some exciting weather bringing over a foot of snow to the Northeast, while severe thunderstorms roll through the Southeast. Around mid-week, a system that is currently above Southern California will move into the Mid-Atlantic bringing a possible flood threat with it. It will be interesting to see if this low will move up the coast like Quincy, possibly turning into another Nor’easter.

  • SEVERE WEATHER UPDATE March 20-24
    Winter Storm Pearl brought some 2 inch hail to Iowa and 70 mph winds to Oklahoma yesterday, and the severe weather associated with this storm is going to continue over the next couple days. Heavy rainfall and flash flooding are in the forecast for locations in Ohio, Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama, while New York and other states in the Northeast should see extreme wind damage. Additionally, there is a massive temperature contrast going on around the country. The Southeast has temperatures 10-20 degrees above average, while many states in the Plains and Midwest are 10-20 degrees below average. As this cold air moves east, a major winter storm could be developing for New England, where a foot of snow is predicted in the forecast for Monday and Tuesday.

  • WINTER STORM PEARL Forecast March 19-22 (Blizzard Conditions and Extreme Rainfall)
    The low that brought six feet of snow to California moved into the Plains yesterday, and picked up a ton of energy/moisture from the tropical Pacific and Gulf of Mexico. Throughout the day Thursday, this storm will move through the Midwest bringing a foot of snow to select locations. The mix of snow and heavy winds could lead to some severe weather including blizzard conditions in some areas. As of right now, the Northeast is looking a bit too warm to pick up any snow with this one, but the forecast models have been known to change.
