Heard of it? Maybe you just know it's been in the news a lot recently; maybe you know way more than you want to but would be interested to learn how and when the Island came to house an infamous NYC jail. Wherever you are on this spectrum, we invite you to join us for some historical and contextual learning about the jails on Rikers Island, and to hear stories (some more prominent, others less well-known) of folks who faced the worst the jail had to offer. We use both facts and human stories to learn together about Rikers and its place in mass incarceration.

The first half of the episode is historical and contextual info and around 19 minutes we get into stories - note for those who may want to be mindful of if and when they consume these.
