If you're a part of CBC or have engaged with our church and curious to know a little more about our culture and what we're excited about, this is our annual meeting Sunday where we look back the year behind and forward to the year ahead of us! This also contains the first message in our December series "The Cast of Christmas."

We're beginning a new series in December where we look at the familiar people who make up the Christmas story to see what lessons we learn from them. This week we start with the shepherds and magi. What shared lesson do these vastly different groups of people teach us?

And yes, we know you can't definitively say there were 3 magi, we just know there were 3 gifts, but it was a fun question to get the kids involved :)

As we wrap up our series on 2 Peter, we come to chapter 3 where Peter lays out for the church a proper perspective on Jesus' return. This week Pastor Mario helps us understand several key terms related to Jesus' return, as well as consider the implications for our lives. Do we as Christians live in such a way that reflects we do indeed believe He is coming back?

As we enter chapter 2 of 2 Peter, we are met with an uncomfortable passage about false teaching and teachers. Though painful, this is important for us to consider since just as in Peter's day there was rampant false teaching, so it is in our modern church culture. So, how do we identify false teaching? What are the marks of a false teacher?

This week we look at another wonderful name of God to see what it tells us about His heart for us and how we're meant to respond to Him. Every stage of life is busy and we have a tendency to exhaust ourselves; but is this how God intends His people to live?

In 2 Peter 1:12-21 we find fantastic lessons on calling one another to action as the Church (How does that begin? What kind of impact does it have?) and guarding against false teaching (Is there a foundational warning flag to look for? How do we evaluate teachers?). Join us for this studying of Scripture.

Is it possible for Christians to live unfruitful lives? If so, how do we walk in fruitfulness as we seek to be obedient to the command of Jesus to make disciples? As we look at our passage today in 2 Peter 1:5-11, we take an honest look at nominal Christianity and why Christ desires to do more through His people.

Is knowledge just about information, or is it something more? This foundational question kicks off a fascinating look at 3 words Peter uses in 2 Peter 1:5-7 for calling Christians to a higher standard.

In 2 Peter 1:5-7, Peter encourages the believers in his day—and us today—to supplement their faith with virtue. What does he mean by "supplement"? And why does he start with "virtue"?

In recent years, we have made "belief" and "faith" synonymous, but is there a critical difference between the two that can actually help us understand why it's so important for Peter to communicate this to a group of believers who went from external threat (the persecution from Rome in 1 Peter) to internal threat (the rise of false teachers addressed in 2 Peter).

Scripture calls us to praise God according to His name, and this week we look at Jehovah Hesed for a powerful reminder of God's mercy, grace, and forgiveness.
