In Exodus 25 God gives the Israelites instructions for building a table in the tabernacle for the Bread of the Presence. What is the bread and why is it so important? What did this bread represent for the people of Israel and what should it teach us today?

In Exodus chapters 21-23 we see the Lord give His people a series of commands regarding how they are to operate and function as a holy people, a just and true society different from the world around them. 2 Samuel 12 gives us an incredible study of repentance. In order to fully understand this idea and practice, we must understand 3 things: the objective horror and depth of our sin, Who we sin against, and God is righteous to judge our sin. So how does this story of David teach us these things?

As we conclude and consider the entirety of the ten commandments, we can see how they answer several simple, timeless questions, but ones that always comes under attack. Is there absolute truth? Where does morality come from?

It's easy for us to read the last half of the commandments, identify where we stumble a little, but overall feel pretty proud of ourselves: I've never killed anyone, never stolen anything, I'm good. But these commandments go beyond the surface to get at our heart. First, how should these commandments cause us to praise God? Do we even think of that as a result of these? And second, if God is forbidding these actions towards others, what does He call us to instead?

As we continue our series in Exodus, we come to 20:12, the commandment to honor our parents. Why does this matter so much for God's people? What does this commandment teach us about the larger structure of our life?

In Exodus 20:4-7 we find the concluding commandments regarding idolatry, but with a new detail: idolatrous engagement with God- attributing images to Him and using His name in vain. What do these mean? How does the church struggle with imposing an image upon God today? Does it go deeper than not using His name as an exclamation?
