Jesus cares about more than just getting us into heaven, He cares about our physical and mental health. Interactive life with God means that God not only wants us to bring our salvation to Him, but every issue in our life. In healing the demon-possessed man, Jesus not only spiritually healed the man, but restored him to relationship with others and even invited the man to be a part of His mission by sending Him to tell others what Jesus had done for him.

Salvation requires a response. When Zacchaeus chose to make reparations for the wrongs he had done to others, it wasn’t simply a sign of how Jesus reconciled Zacchaeus to God. But it was Zacchaeus interacting with the grace of God by partnering with God to make wrong things right in the world around him. This is what God has invited us into as well. God is not simply forgiving your sin, He’s making you a minister of that reconciliation.

Believers are referred to as brothers and sisters in Christ. Jesus has not only saved our souls, but placed us into a new family. What does it mean to be a part of this spiritual family, and how do we help our children grow to live in this new reality? At the beginning of each year, we just look at the life of Jesus. We usually spend about 4-5 months just reading through the stories of Jesus’ life, because we are Jesus people. And we have found that when we look deeply at the life of Jesus, and we get the stories of how He interacted with human beings while He was on earth deep within us, then we not only get a better picture of who God is, but how He wants to be with us, to cooperate with us in this life. Because the most meaningful and satisfying life we can experience is to live fully into the story God is telling, and that is our greatest desire.
