This week Malcolm Calvert continues our series Dust: the art of follower-ship, with a talk called ‘Suffering as a doorway to discipleship’. Malcolm uses our Scripture of the Week – Psalm 42, to bring home the fact that we all face suffering on many levels and we can learn from that place of suffering how to draw close to God and become more like Jesus. Malcolm speaks from personal experience and the journey he has been on and is continuing on.

This Sunday Rupert Ward continues the series ‘Dust: that art of follower-ship’ with a talk titled “This has to be stronger than that” – Looking at Romans 12:2 and 2 Peter 1:3-9, Rupert describes how we are being formed all the time by the culture around us.

He explains how our intentionality around discipleship to Jesus has to be stronger than the unintentional way we are formed by some of the culture around us.

Rupert then offers a model for how we can change: forming habits and practices that will help us to become more like Jesus.

Rupert Ward continues the Dust series with a talk on Jesus’ words ‘”my yoke is easy”.  Rupert discuss how, when we do life and Jesus, we are yoked to both and the burden is heavy. You will become tired, restless…. it doesn’t work. We have to do Jesus first, then life fits in. That’s the easy yoke!

Referring to Matthew 11:28-30, Rupert looks in more depth at the phrase ‘weary and burdened’. We discover the heart of Jesus, gentle and humble and he is inviting all, especially the ‘weary and burdened’. Rupert asks two questions:
