But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.”

All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” (which means “God with us”).

When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife. But he did not consummate their marriage until she gave birth to a son. And he gave him the name Jesus.

“Sir,” the invalid replied, “I have no one to help me into the pool when the water is stirred. While I am trying to get in, someone else goes down ahead of me.”

Then Jesus said to him, “Get up! Pick up your mat and walk.” At once the man was cured; he picked up his mat and walked.

The day on which this took place was a Sabbath, and so the Jewish leaders said to the man who had been healed, “It is the Sabbath; the law forbids you to carry your mat.”

We live in a culture that tells us the answer to our guilt and shame is to try harder, be better, and, if all else fails, “forgive ourselves.” Yet Scripture warns that when we look to our own efforts or rule-keeping to make us right, we actually move further away from the grace Christ offers us freely. Together we will consider why self-made righteousness cannot carry the weight of our sin, and how the gospel invites us instead to rest in the finished work of Jesus—his cross, his resurrection, and his ongoing grace for weary hearts.

Elijah was afraid and ran for his life. When he came to Beersheba in Judah, he left his servant there, while he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness. He came to a broom bush, sat down under it and prayed that he might die. ‘I have had enough, LORD,’ he said. ‘Take my life; I am no better than my ancestors.’ Then he lay down under the bush and fell asleep.

All at once an angel touched him and said, ‘Get up and eat.’ He looked around, and there by his head was some bread baked over hot coals, and a jar of water. He ate and drank and then lay down again.

The angel of the LORD came back a second time and touched him and said, ‘Get up and eat, for the journey is too much for you.’ So he got up and ate and drank. Strengthened by that food, he travelled for forty days and forty nights until he reached Horeb, the mountain of God. There he went into a cave and spent the night.

The LORD appears to Elijah

He replied, ‘I have been very zealous for the LORD God Almighty. The Israelites have rejected your covenant, torn down your altars, and put your prophets to death with the sword. I am the only one left, and now they are trying to kill me too.’

The LORD said, ‘Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the LORD, for the LORD is about to pass by.’

Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the LORD, but the LORD was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake. After the earthquake came a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper. When Elijah heard it, he pulled his cloak over his face and went out and stood at the mouth of the cave.

Then a voice said to him, ‘What are you doing here, Elijah?’

We live in a world marked by tears, loss, and the ache of things not yet made right. Yet the Christian story points us toward a future where God himself draws near, wipes away every tear, and brings an end to death, mourning, crying, and pain. This Sunday, we’re exploring how that promised future changes the way we live, grieve, and hope in the present. Join us as we worship together and look to Jesus, the One who completes the story and anchors our ultimate hope.

Some journeys feel like quick getaways. Others slowly change the way we see God, ourselves, and the world. ‘As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love. I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete. My command is this: love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.

Romans 14:11 tells us of a coming day when every knee will bow and every tongue will acknowledge God—a picture of God’s ultimate authority and the final defeat of evil. In this service, we’ll explore how Jesus’ death and resurrection bring that future reality into our present lives. Whether you are carrying questions about injustice, wrestling with personal struggles, or simply curious about what Christians mean when we say that Jesus is Lord, we invite you to journey with us as we worship, listen, and respond together. Christ's sacrifice wasn't just a moment in history—it's the hinge upon which our entire story turns. The Lamb who was slain didn't just bear our burdens; He completed the story we could never finish on our own. His suffering became our path to freedom and His victory our hope.
