Thinking about what we learn from Mary’s example, we move into the next event recorded in John 12:1-19, where we see a whole different motivation for why people worship Jesus.What a difference there is in the way Mary worships Jesus from the way the crowds worship Jesus. Mary is worshipping Jesus for who he is and letting him define who he is and what he is about, while the crowds on that Lamb Selection Sunday, or what we now call Palm Sunday, are worshipping him for who they want him to be.This is what can make our worship of God a dangerous act. Do you and I realize that worship is one of the most dangerous things we do spiritually, as whenever we move into worship, we enter a realm of risk?When we worship, we cross over into territory where the primary risk comes not from God, but from ourselves. When we worship, we run the risk of approaching God in ways which are not pleasing to him.

In John 12, we see a powerful act of devotion when Mary pours out costly perfume at the feet of Jesus. While some saw it as wasteful, Jesus called it beautiful. This moment reminds us that true worship is never wasted. It is an offering of love, honor, and surrender to the One who gave everything for us.As we study this passage together, we’re invited to ask:What does it mean to give Jesus our best?What does extravagant worship look like in our daily lives?Are we holding anything back from Him?Join us as we continue in the Gospel of John and discover how worship reveals what we value most.

This week, we celebrated FX Sunday or "Family eXperience", designed to help kids and families worship together in a unique way. However, this week we went "old school,” doing away with contemporary worship and projector screens, and singing hymns straight out the hymnals.

Pastor LaRon reminds us that Jesus is the vine and we are the branches, and that we are called and chosen to bear fruit that will last. But what happens when we withhold what God has given us? Like food that spoils when it’s not eaten, spiritual fruit can go to waste when it’s not shared.

This week, Pastor Charlotte walks us through John 11:1–57 and the story of Lazarus. In this passage, we see that God’s delays are not His denials, that Jesus is the resurrection and the life, and that He weeps with us in our pain.

Even in moments when God seems late or distant, we can trust that He is working for our good and His greater plan. The God who calls Lazarus out of the tomb is the same God who speaks life into what feels lost in our lives today.

Previously in John chapter 10, we saw Jesus talking about his relationship with all who are his followers, and he describes that relationship using the metaphor of himself as the Good Shepherd who watches over his sheep, protecting them to the point where he is willing to lay down his life for his sheep. He did lay down his life for us as we will see later in the Gospel of John when he went to the cross so people who believe in him and follow him like sheep follow their shepherd, would experience forgiveness of our sin that has broken our relationship with God.

Jesus was using this metaphor of being a good shepherd in a day and place where the people he was talking with understood very well what he meant in that image…

In this message, we dive into John 10:1–21, where Jesus describes Himself as the Good Shepherd—the One who knows His sheep by name, lays down His life for them, and leads them into abundant life.

This passage continuously reminds us that not all voices in this world are worth following, but there is One who calls us by name, bringing truth and love alongside it. Whether you feel lost, or simply in need of reassurance, this message may help you recognize the voice of Jesus amid the noise—and rediscover what it means to belong and believe.

Have you ever experienced some difficulty or hardship in life or has someone you loved been in trouble or sick, and you asked God to relieve you of that difficulty or hardship, or to heal the person you loved – and he didn’t. Do you ever wonder why some people get relief from the difficulty and hardship they are experiencing, or why God healed someone else but not the person you loved?

How do you define freedom?

What does it mean to be truly free—not just politically, but spiritually?

In this message, we reflect on the words of Jesus to His listeners who had begun to believe in Him. He reveals that true discipleship involves more than a moment of belief—it’s about abiding, continuing, and living in His word. Through that continued obedience and relationship, we come to know the truth.

John 8:31–32 — “If you continue in My word, you really are My disciples. You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
