The events of the cross and the empty tomb were not new things that God was doing, only the next stage in God’s single plan that was being worked out through history. God’s plan has taken thousands of years to unfold and it seems to advance slowly through history. But “it is finished”, God’s plan shall be thoroughly worked through. Jesus will return. The kingdom of God will come. The world shall be judged in righteousness.

“It is finished”. Salvation in Christ Jesus is certain and believers are assured of forgiveness and eternal life. However, the application of this salvation in my life is conditional. I have to respond to the sacrifice of God’s Son. I have to accept Jesus as my Lord and Saviour. I have to bear the fruit of repentance.
