Dwight Williams and Ernest Glover came by the show to talk about the history of African American Fire Fighters and their 1st Annual Founders Day! Celebration of the Organization Founders and Members!

Expert, Barb Zoodsma, NOAA Fisheries Southeast U.S. Right Whale Recovery Program Coordinator called in to the show to talk about The Right Whale Festival celebrating the annual return of endangered North Atlantic right whales to the warm coastal water off northeast Florida and Georgia, where they give birth to and nurse their young. With as few as 450 remaining, this family-fun event raises awareness of the threats to right whales and how we can help in their recovery. The festival highlights local efforts to protect these whales from extinction, as well as ocean-themed activities and exhibits that emphasize education and environmentally responsible adventures and products.

Janice McIntosh of JN BANK - Chief Representative Officer , came by the show to talk about their Cancer Awareness - Power of Pink Campaign event which will be until the middle of December supporters can help by reviewing the website www.isupportjamaica.comwebsite. We also talked about their visit to Jacksonville, Florida and JN Group and their charitable arm fueled by the JN Foundation which focuses on various projects in Jamaica. The focus is to highlight this and encourage members of the diaspora to get involved and to link with JN Groups efforts

Desmond came by the show to speak on Amendment 4 and early voting. We talked about Amendment 4 and how it would return voting rights to 1.4 million Floridians who have felony convictions and have served all portions of any sentence including probation, parole, fines and community service. It doesn't apply to those with murder or felony sex offense convictions. Roughly 30 percent of those who would get their voting rights restored are African Americans. Also, we are one of only 4 states in the country that permanently disenfranchises people with felony convictions. Amendment 4 is also good or public safety. Studies show that people who get their voting rights restored are much less likely to reoffend than those who don't and Amendment 4 will positively affect the economy. We also encouraged the community to get out and VOTE!!

Mayor Lenny Curry – Mayor Curry came by the show talk about the rise in violence in the city, caring about his city and why project Journey to One means so much to him. We spoke on the Kids Hope Alliance and connecting with the city to ensure children needs are addressed. Mayor Curry also spoke on connecting with City Council, Florida Department of Health and local partners to show support and implement projects and programs in critical areas that will have a positive impact on the overall health of the community.
