Every church has a primary characteristic that defines who they are and how they relate to their community. What defines us in the city God has placed us in? Who should we be to our community as the church of Jesus?

When you have a debt, you should pay it back. It's an ancient idea - an eye for an eye. You hurt me, so I have a right to hurt you. You say something on facebook, so I say something on facebook. It’s balance. It’s fairness. But there is something about how we deal with those who are in debt to us that God wants us to understand.

We all want a clean permanent record. It’s why we are willing to pay more when we get a speeding ticket, don’t submit an accident to our car insurance and pay for repairs out of pocket - even when it’s more expensive, and do whatever to make sure our credit report is good. There are things that become part of our moral permanent record too. The things we are sorry for, feel guilty and ashamed about. The things we regret. How do we clear our moral permanent record?

We all have things in our pasts that haunt us. It only takes a word, a picture, or a name to bring it all back. We can say we’re sorry, but some of the things we’ve done hang over our lives like a cloud. We know we can do better from this point forward, but how are we supposed to fix the past? What can wash away our sins?

What’s the deal with guilt? Why would a loving God want us to feel guilty at all? Does it serve any purpose? How do I get rid of the shame and guilt of things I’ve done and things that have been done to me? Join us as we seek to understand guilt and how to be free of it.
