Community Conversations is a podcast designed to help people learn more about individuals and organizations within the Grant County community. Our desire is that by learning more about the organizations that are serving our community you will press into where and how God may be leading you to use your passions and gifts as well. At Compass we are passionate about helping Christ followers put their faith in action and be the hands and feet of Christ to the world around them. This Compass Community Conversation features Courtney talking with Seth and Joy Elzinga and their son Grant about their deep commitment to foster children, rooted in their experiences as teachers, through Kids Hope, adopting their youngest son, and fostering. After volunteering as a family at a Royal Family Kids Camp in Montana they felt called to launch a local chapter here in Grant County. Their first camp served 21 campers with over 70 volunteers drawn from the broader community (not just one church), relying on God’s provision for people, resources, and smooth execution. Listen in as the Elzinga's highlight transformative moments of kids opening up, the sacrificial nature of the buddy role, the power of the body of Christ serving together, as well as practical next steps including a fall/spring mentoring program and plans to run camp again next summer.
