On this episode of StreetSmart Wisdom Podcast, guest Susan Piver discusses the Enneagram and its nine different ways of being. She explains how understanding someone's type can lead to compassion and meeting them where their attention is. The conversation also explores the Enneagram's subtypes and how they impact how individuals perceive situations. The podcast emphasizes the Enneagram as a tool for communication and compassion, rather than labeling individuals. The second half of the episode will focus on the Wisdom Feed's topic of the month and the guest's new book about the Buddhist Enneagram.
Susan Piver is a Buddhist practitioner who has been studying the enneagram for almost 30 years. She believes that the enneagram, which describes nine ways of being in the world, can be used as a school of spiritual wisdom to deepen compassion towards ourselves and others. Susan emphasizes the concept of upaya, skillful means, in Buddhism and believes that the enneagram is one of the most potent upayas to practice compassion. In her view, the enneagram goes beyond being just a personality typing system and can be used to understand and get along with others in profound and direct ways.
