Since Feb. 2022, it’s been very bleak. And 2025 is no better. Yet people like Oles Dmytrenko refuse to give up hope, knowing that God does, and has delivered the Faithful time and time again. Has it ever been this way before? Social Upheaval; Pandemic; Economic Uncertainty?

Yes, and Jesus addressed similar challenges in the world He witnessed with His own, earthly eyes. He also made some outrageous claims and commands to His disciples. Things that seemed completely unreasonable then, and still do today. He also told stories about unlikely heroes, and how their faith, compassion and generosity completely transformed their circumstances, not just for themselves, but for those around them.

Even as World began to ‘open up’ after the trauma of the COVID 19 Pandemic, it didn’t mean all our anxieties simply melted away. Even today, anger and hateful rhetoric are still leading so many to disastrous ends. When the dangers of the world seem unrelenting, Jesus offers us a new model which completely flips the narrative: The Good Samaritan. Today, Bram brings to light the radical nature of this famous parable and how it can – how it should – be lived out today…

Bram & Sandi continue a new Friday series focused on world events and the ‘Kingdom Response’. We put a whole new spin on what’s happening in the world, right now…

Today: It has been a brutal number of years in this nation and around the world. So many innocent lives lost to unimaginable violence. THIS TIME IT WAS ANNUNCIATION CATHOLIC SCHOOL IN MINNEAPOLIS, MN. During Opening Day worship, two children were murdered in the pew where they sat and 17 others were gravely wounded. Most, school-aged children. Along with some elderly worshippers.

We reeled when 6 students, teachers and employees of the Covenant School in Nashville, TN were gunned down in 2023. Back then we were already reeling from attacks in 2022 on a grade school in Uvalde, TX, a church in California and a supermarket in New York. This list goes on and on. And nobody seems to have the vision or initiative to do anything about it. As if we are just supposed to accept it as our ‘new normal.’ It’s hard not to feel like the world is in full meltdown.

Yet, is that what God expects of his Body on Earth? Are we not to be able to hope when others can’t lift their heads; see what others cannot; act in faith when everyone else cowers in fear? Today just needs a genuine, honest, Lament. And sometimes that means we have to let others speak and sing the thoughts that we are afraid to even whisper. In word and song we’ll make an honest effort to be helpful in the process of processing the impossible.
