Compensation Strategy: Trends in Increments

Improving business conditions, as indicated by IMA’s Business Confidence Survey, are translating into higher increments. IMA’s FY22 Salary Increments Benchmarking study which examined trends in people costs and salary increments in over 220 organisations across industry sectors and size categories finds that FY22 increments – by function, level and ‘talent group’ – will be much higher than in FY21, by 3-4 percentage points for top/senior managers, HiPos and top performers. Further, increments will be more strongly correlated to performance in FY22 and companies with ‘April’ start are expected to give out higher increments this year compared to those with ‘Jan’ as the starting month.
