Your confidence is not in human wisdom, but in the unchanging truth of Christ and His saving work.

As we look toward the Fall, there is a question that remains on my mind that I hope you will consider with me. We encountered this in 2nd Peter, but it is a question that will echo throughout the book of Judges as well: "what sort of people ought we to be?" This question has stayed with me, poignantly so. We serve a glorious God—so what sort of people should we be? We have spoken about some of those dynamics already (and will continue to), such as worship. We should be a worshipful people, and we should be mindful to order our church and its worship toward that end. But I hope this question remains with us as we enter into this Fall, and we consider the years ahead for us as a church: what sort of people (plural) ought we to be? God is so good, and I am encouraged for the days ahead. I pray that God would give us a vision for what our church may faithfully aim for in the coming years and decades.
