In 1989, Jim Marrs published his book Crossfire, which was considered a sort of granddaddy or encyclopedia about the murder of JFK. In 2014 or 2015, he released a documentary (which I admittedly knew nothing about) also called Crossfire where he purports to tell us everything we need to know about JFK's murder. No one single documentary can actually do that, but Marrs brings up several intriguing points.

"Operation Gladio was the codename for clandestine 'stay-behind' operations of armed resistance that were organized by the Western Union (WU) (founded in 1948), and subsequently by NATO (formed in 1949) and by the CIA (established in 1947), in collaboration with several European intelligence agencies during the Cold War. Although Gladio specifically refers to the Italian branch of the NATO stay-behind organizations, Operation Gladio is used as an informal name for all of them. Stay-behind operations were prepared in many NATO member countries, and in some neutral countries.

According to several Western European researchers, the operation involved the use of assassination, psychological warfare, and false flag operations to delegitimize left-wing parties in Western European countries, and even went so far as to support anti-communist militias and right-wing terrorism as they tortured communists and assassinated them, such as Eduardo Mondlane in 1969. The United States Department of State rejected the view that they supported terrorists and maintains that the operation served only to resist a potential invasion of Western European countries by the Soviet Union."  -Wikipedia

In 1992, the BBC released a three-part documentary exposing Operation Gladio and it is, quite frankly, utterly terrifying.

In keeping with the idea that we can't say anything positive about JFK unless it's a left-handed compliment, we're supposed to view Kennedy as a mafia don who kept his friends close and his enemies closer in the non-aligned world. The political film Z deals with the real life circumstances of Grigoris Lambrakis who was murdered in 1963 because of his advocacy for peace and disarmament. Hmm . . . seems like I've heard some similar stories before . . .  It also seems that politicians who truly lobby for peace and disarmament don't have long life expectancies.

🎉 Special Guest Episode! It was my pleasure to sit down recently with Larry Schnapf, an environmental attorney with 40+ years of experience fighting the good fight for the release of the JFK files. Larry filed a FOIA lawsuit against the National Archives to obtain the underlying correspondence related to the Trump postponements of the JFK records in 2017 and 2018. In 2021 and 2022, Larry also organized a group of open government organizations, historians and prominent JFK researchers to request Congress to hold oversight hearing on the failure of the executive branch to comply with the JFK Records Act. He also organized a similar group in 2021 requesting Biden to release all the JFK Records by the October 26, 2021 deadline established by Trump.   

Given Trump's Executive Order 14176 from January, where do things stand? I spoke with Larry to get down to brass tacks.
