As we approach the end of Spooky Season, let's opening the book of Revelation and dive deep into Richard Donner's 1976 horror masterpiece, The Omen.

I'll break down why this prestige thriller turned the number 666 into a global phenomenon, earned an Oscar for its terrifying Latin black-mass choir, and survived one of the most infamously "cursed" film productions in Hollywood history—from lightning strikes and IRA bombings to eerie real-life tragedies.

Then, I'll widen the lens to examine how The Omen completed horror's legendary Unholy Trinity alongside Rosemary's Baby (1968) and The Exorcist (1973). We explore how these three cinematic landmarks dragged demonic terror out of B-movie gothic castles and planted it firmly in modern suburban homes, political halls, and everyday family life, forever changing how horror movies are made.

In December 1973, William Friedkin’s The Exorcist hit theaters, causing fainting in the aisles, street-spanning lines in sub-zero weather, and an unprecedented cultural uproar. But its legacy reaches far beyond horror cinema. A decade later, as the Satanic Panic swept across America, prosecutors, self-proclaimed "cult experts," and sensationalist talk shows drew heavily on the visual tropes, psychological themes, and narrative frameworks that Friedkin and novel writer William Peter Blatty had popularized.

Is it that surprising that we can find the "fingerprints of intelligence" and Mockingbird media even here? 🤔

In honor of spooky month, I'm profiling the unholy trinity: Rosemary's Baby, The Exorcist, and The Omen.

Rosemary's Baby is an absolute masterclass in what a horror movie can be. It has remained a classic for good reason.

➡️ Was Anton LaVey involved?

➡️ Was there a connection to the Manson Murders?

➡️ How did the death of Krzysztof Komeda mirror Hutch in the film?

The Formula tells the story of a secret alternative fuel formula invented by the Nazis. It's not the greatest film, TBH, but it gives us echoes of Operation Gladio, Operation Paperclip, and the conspiracies that free or low-cost abundant energy exists but has been suppressed.

Also, Marlon Brando looks tremendously like Dick Cheney.

September 18, 2026 is the 65th anniversary of Dag's murder. Are we any closer to knowing who is responsible? Not really. And I doubt that will happen in my lifetime. But, Occam's razor could be valid here: Instead of going down bizarre rabbit holes about the SAIMR and Keith Maxwell, it could very well be that an explanation of "elements of the intelligence agencies and mining interests were responsible and Tshombe had Fouga jets to help pull it off" is the most logical. Just a thought.

In any case, to potentially solve Dag's murder, we must look at HIS LIFE.

PBS Frontline has released "Top Secret America" from 2011 for the 25th anniversary of 9/11. It is a documentary worth watching.

➡️ National security sites with entire underground societies across the US. Why? Maybe Phil Schneider wasn't so crazy with his DUMBS theory after all...

➡️ Secret black site prisons. Why would an intelligence agency even possess such things? How? Why???

➡️ War is no longer solely about weapons; it is about information. (Michael Aquino talked about this decades ago.) And that's only deepened with AI and robotics.

It's hard to believe that Neil Jordan's biopic Michael Collins is 30. How is that possible?

➡️ Is the film perfect? No. Is it therefore awful? Also no.

➡️ Did Neil Jordan use Michael Collins as a device to talk about the greater arc of Irish history?

➡️ Was Michael Collins a man of war turned man of peace? Or have we misunderstood the whole ball of wax?
