Concussion: How the AFL's negligence could lead to $1 bn in compensation

La Trobe University Professor Alan Pearce, a neurophysiologist researching mild brain injury and repetitive brain trauma in sport, delves into the severity of concussion. In 2015 Professor Pearce signed a $60,000 contract with the AFL to undertake research on retired players, however there was almost zero cooperation from the governing body over the two-year period. The AFL is now facing two class actions and affected players could receive up to a $1 billion in compensation.
