  • 2.9.2020 - Forgiveness 2 - Our Forgiveness - Cameron Lienhart
    Matthew 6:12-15
    Mark 11:25
    Luke 6:37-38
Forgiveness is the decision to release someone from the debt or obligation that resulted when they injured me.
    Matthew 18:21-35
    5 Ways we rationalize UNFORGIVENESS
(I would like these to each be separate slides, or at least not all come up at once)
    1. I can't forgive because it's too big.
    2. Time will heal it.
    3. I'll forgive when they say they're sorry.
    4. I can't forgive if I can't forget.
Unforgiveness is the decision to regularly revisit and re-live the offense.
    5. If I forgive they'll just do it again.
    Matthew 18:23-26
Those who have harmed us rarely correctly measure the depth of the offense.
    1 talent = 6,000 denarii
    1 denarii = 1 day's wage
    1 day = $95 ($12/hr @ 8hrs)
    1 talents (or 6,000 days wage) = $570,000
    10,000 talents = $5,700,000,000
    IT WAS AN UNPAYABLE DEBT
There is only ONE way out of an unpayable debt (Matthew 18:27)
    Unforgiveness punishes those around you.
What has been forgiven in your life is INFINITELY more significant than what you are not forgiving.

  • 1.26.20 - Core Values 2 - Cameron Lienhart
Vision: To see WHOLENESS and REDEMPTION in our Homes, Churches, and Cities
    -Healing and restoration in families
-Unified awakening in the body of Christ
    -Socioeconomic revival
-Release from the bondage of mental illness and substance abuse
-Peace of Christ to reign over hostility and violence
VISION is a picture of the preferred future.
The church--CHRISTIANS--should be the activators of heaven's reality here on earth,.
    Genesis 2:7
Is the church called to address the current needs and realities of this world that are not explicitly "spiritual?" Hunger? Poverty? Mental illness? Addiction? Imprisonment? Inequality?
Personal fulfillment in the "work" of ministry is a bi-product of the real reason which is the EXAMPLE of Jesus and the TEACHING of scripture.
Jesus taught it (that kingdom living is more than just a spiritual reality)
    Matthew 25:31-46
    Jesus exemplified it
    Matthew 14:13-21
    The Bible comments on it
    James 2:14-17
    A call for BALANCE:
    "Doing" is good and important
    "Being" is good and important
    "IN"
    -Marriage Ministry
    -Reduction of Unemployment rate
    -Culture of giving and generosity
    "OUT"
-Reduction of "food deserts" in Chau. Co.
-Bridges built to the hispanic community
    -Post-incarceration program
    "BOTH"
-Addressing mental illness and substance abuse
    -Planting churches

  • 1.19.20 - Core Values - Cameron Lienhart
    From last week:
We have ONE job----the primary task of the church is to make disciples of Jesus
We do life together---the primary environment for disciple-making is gospel community
    This week:
We live on mission----the primary direction of all disciples is out on mission
    Genesis 12:1-2
God MAKES and God BLESSES......SO THAT......You will be a blessing and ALL people will be blessed by you.
    Ephesians 2:11-22
"Ekklesia"(the word translated "church")--- the called out community
    Luke 19:10
The life of Jesus was to seek and save the lost. Jesus' disciples follow him in this task.
Seeking is a pursuit that is marked with an urgency of action.
    Luke 15:8-10
Core Value----"THIS counts as church"----We embrace non-traditional methods to seek and save people who are far from Jesus.
    Non-predictable results require non-predictable methods

  • 1.12.20 - Vision - Cameron Lienhart
We have one job-----> MAKE DISCIPLES
Raising up disciples of Jesus is the primary work of the church.
    Matthew 28:18-20
"Disciples"-- models their life after another; learns within close relationship
We are to make disciples of Jesus, not ourselves.
    1 Corinthians 8:1
Jesus taught in and through the context of relationship.
We do life together-----> Gospel Community
Becoming a disciple of Jesus is not exclusively individual, but necessarily communal.
We grow best in groups, not rows.
    Gospel Community High Water Marks:
    Romans 12:4-8
    Hebrews 10:24-25
    Galatians 6:2
    James 5:16
    Romans 12:10, 15
