Cynthia and Leslie met at 14 years old as 1st Gen Latinas in high school in Long Beach, CA and the adventures they shared and the adults who guided them along the way. Cynthia and Leslie pay homage to our Inner Teen spirit, old friends and the adults who believed in us! We talk about grieving as teenagers and how dance has always been a coping tool for us. This is a light hearted chat with two soul sisters who met when they needed each other. Lelsie gives Cynthia advice on turning 40 in October and shares tps on embracing the Señora Era.

Leslie Henderson is a mom, a cowgirl, a designer, an avid Zumba dancer and a lover of animals and laughs. Leslie is one of those friends in Cynthia's life that will always have her own chapter for all that she has done for Lil' Cyn.

This is a vulnerable solo episode with Cynthia, who while working as a medical social worker by day, and experiencing fertility issues, miscarriages with shame, and a post partum journey through her depression, anxiety and the rituals she did to move into her joy and ancestral wisdom. After the dark season Cynthia found books like "The Pain We Carry" by Natalie Gutierrez, LMFT and could start to make words for the shame she still feels in her body for the numbness and fear she came into motherhood with.Cynthia talks about Marianismo and how her Epigenetics of abandonment has been a lighthouse sign for her intergenerational healing from her abuelas to her babies. This is a very intimate episode from the narrative of a 1st generation Chicana and daughter of immigrants. It was through this understanding of her own postpartum connection to Marianismo is what motivated her to create mental health trainings to better understand Latina mothers and their postpartum experience or motherhood expectations due to Marianismo.

Alison Cebulla & Anne Sherry join us from their burning toaster fire of a comedy podcast entitled Latchkey Urchins & Friends that highlights childhood trauma in relatable and healing ways. This part 2 of a comadre conversation with Sofia Mendoza, LCSW and Rosa Shetty, LCSW reflecting on their first retreat for Femmes of color in beautiful Utuado, Puerto Rico. Cynthia, Sofia and Rosa set out from LAX to San Juan to let themselves be held by the 4 directions, the 4 elements, and 2  powerful medicine women. In June 2023, Natalie Gutierrez, LMFT and Dr. Lydiana Garcia curated an intentionally loving and expansive reclaiming of ourselves and our ancestral lineage. "Reclaiming my Voice and Roots" is a 3 night 4day retreat to reconnect to our inner wisdom. Lydiana and Natalie did a wonderful job picking the location and welcoming us with their majestic and indigenous medicine at the beautiful Casa Grande retreat resort.

Emely and Cynthia have been vulnerable in the voice notes and flourished a frienship unique to two Latina therapists living in busy cities raising babies and reading books. This episode airs on Emely's birthday on purpose because this conversation is a celebration of Emely's work, her gifts, and her grace. Cynthia and Em talk about their inner child altars, books that were there for them in hard times, and Em details her intuitive bibliotherapy rituals and practice of bibliomancy to work intuitively with each client. 

Emely Rumble is an African-American and Puerto Rican Bibliotherapist and Licensed Clinical Social Worker who uses literature in her work with clients in order to help them thrive in life and relationships. She is also a school-based social worker and early childhood specialist who counsels children, adolescents, and administrators in the Bronx, NY.

Emely is an advocate for neurodiversity and a believer in the social model of disability. She provides individual therapy, couples therapy, family therapy, as well as bibliotherapy services. This episode is all about breaking the stigma and stepping into our authentic sleeves and what supports our day. While maybe at first glance one may assume WhoLetMeBeaMom's Sabrina G is  just a cannabis content creator, but we see all the confetti she spreads around with advocacy, women's empowerment and cannabis education. Sabrina creates safe spaces for women to meet up, consume cannabis without judgement, and meet like minded mothers and entrepreneurs . Sabrina comes in vulnerable and shares her story growing up with a father who had an intimate relationship with the plant and a step father who wanted to protect her from its reputation. Sabrina shows so much compassion and strength in all she shares with us in defense of cannabis as a plant that connects her with her father, plant medicine as an alternative to pharmaceuticals, and as a community connector.

When looking at why we put up with toxic workplaces,  we consider intergenerational patterns and inner child wounds and how they may intersect in the decisions we make about our jobs and what we will put up with. 

In this episode Cynthia uses her framework ABC's of Protecting your Peace in action by sharing 3 stories of past toxic workplaces and how she did or didn't in fact protect her peace.  Sharing some burnout vulnerability, Cynthia also leads a compassionate body scan to feel what is feelable when sorting our feelings about our job.
