I was delighted to welcome Emma Jenkings back to the podcast so join us as we discuss the topic of boundaries in relation to confidence.

We explore what boundaries are, the importance of setting them in both personal and professional relationships, and how boundaries can contribute to overall well-being.  It's important to stress that boundaries are individual and will vary from person to person.

We discuss the reasons why setting boundaries can be a struggle and the potential impact this can have on our confidence.

We conclude by talking about how clearly communicating your boundaries to others can help manage expectations. In turn this can positively impact confidence by empowering you to protect your needs and values.

This series of the Confidence Conversations podcast has been a good one.  The conversations have moved on from what does confidence mean to you to how does it show up in life and in business / work environments. 

Over the 10 episodes there were so many great discussions, I think with all of them we could have just kept on talking.  It was so difficult thinking about how to wrap them up and to be able to do them justice. 

I decided on a different approach for this the final episode of Series 2:  I asked my guests what question they had for me about confidence. 

So this episode is Confidence: With a little help from my podcast friends!

I'm going to take some time to answer each question my podcast friends sent me.  In some you'll hear a clip of the guest as they sent me a voice note with their question and for others I'm going to read their question from email.

Confidence & Imposter Syndrome

Well this is a great episode with Emily Perry from The People Consultancy.

Imposter Syndrome is something that many people have and it comes crippling feeling that you are a complete fraud and you are going to get caught our at any time.

Emily and I could have talked FOR EVER about this topic.  We start with defining Imposter Syndrome, then go on to talk about who suffers from it & what feelings and behaviours are associated with it, including how it works with where we place our conditional worth.

Emily shares her own experience of imposter syndrome, how she got help and how she now manages it when it shows up again.

We also went on to talk about whether or not it has become a bit of a buzz word and some may think they have imposter syndrome but actually don't.  Emily talks about how you can identify if you have imposter syndrome.

This episode is a great conversation with Julian Roberts all about confidence and resilience.

I was really keen to explore with Julian the link between the two, because I think there are so many similarities.   

Julian's take on resilience isn't about grit and determination of simply carrying on, which he says is a slightly toxic way of going through life.  Resilience is about creating a learning loop, when you get knocked down by something that challenges you, you take the learning from it ready to go again, it's in this learning loop where resilience can be built.

We chat about the difference between courage and confidence and why Julian doesn't want to feel confident in every situation.

We discussed how having a purpose can have a direct impact on your resilience, usually the purpose is always bigger than you and it provides a source of inspiration to energise you when things are tough.

The comfort zone came up in relation to resilience and how we now live in a world of comfort that society has created around us.

Of course at the end Julian gave his 4 top tips for building resilience.
